"It is the hungry man's bread that you withhold, the naked man's cloak that you store away, the money that you bury… is the price of the poor man's freedom."
Catholics in America: "Pope Francis did not work to deepen faith." Catholics in Gaza: "His voice made us forget the sound of the planes and the bombs."
@FrDamienKarras Without white Europeans, Roman Catholicism would've been smothered in her cradle. It betrayed that trust and caused the Reformation, then it betrayed it again by using our own support--whether by donations or taxes--to replace the inheritance of our own children with foreigners.
and the sad part is, like the takes are the same ole far-right talking points and conspiracies lol
how are you going to be so chronically online and still boring, unoriginal, and mediocre 😭
like… it hasn’t even been a day, but the things I’ve read some people just say online about Pope Francis lol
No way you genuinely think that’s what the Lord would desire of you and no way you genuinely think by sharing it’s somehow drawing you and/or others toward holiness
@stargarde5 Yeah that’s why I ran here. My little bubble usually filters all the nonsense out atp.
Thank you for sharing all this info with me. I truly appreciate it. 🫶🏻
I have not been on here again in a long time, so first off, hello!
and this might be a silly question, if anyone sees it, but is there anything, aside from usual praying for the repose of his soul, the lay traditionally participate in when a pope passes away?
At least in my part of the world, I feel like his guidance was truly received and could be seen in how everyone from priests to lay folk were now approaching the faith.
Aside for the repose of his soul, my prayer now is that the best of what was gained is not lost.
Pope Francis was such a good pope. He truly was a voice of calm reason and an advocate for those most forgotten in their suffering in the fringes of society.
I can’t imagine I would have went through with my Sacrament of Confirmation as a queer person, if not for him.
My relationship with God and His Church has always been wishy-washy, but Pope Francis truly made me feel like I am welcomed and I found, under his leadership, other Catholics were truly taking more time to listen, understand, and journey with one another.
Pope Francis used his last public address to call for a ceasefire in Gaza.
Even as he was hospitalised, he maintained his commitment to check in on a daily basis with priests and parishioners at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Gaza City.
Rest in peace.
