Taking care of physical readiness by getting my Sickle Cell Trait (SCT) screening done. ✅ A relatively painless finger prick can help distinguish b/t someone who looks like they have a heat-related injury from someone with SCT and how best to provide care in a medical emergency.

🧵1/3 My month’s been nuts w/ challenging work. Saturday’s long run ended in hobbling home after 4 miles. Failed a second attempt the next day at 18 miles (only did 11). The list of due out is high. Today I’m worried about balancing a job with upcoming week of military duty. . .
🧵3/3 Why do I share this? It’s b/c no matter the rank we all need folks to reach out to when life spins out of control. It’s normal & expected. Not just during suicide prevention month. Everyday be a person folks can reach out to. Have folks you reach out to. #Noonegoesitalone
🧵2/3 Then I met David (airport piano guy). He smiled at me & unexpectedly played “You got a friend in me”. I knew what to do; I called a friend. They reminded me to give myself grace & keep putting one foot in front of the other. My friend can’t fix things but it helped calm me.
