To change an undesirable, deeply conditioned, unconscious behavior—strong self-awareness, coupled with a year of leaning into discomfort and acting according to your intentions, rather than instincts, and constant self-reflection is necessary. A hard but worthwhile endeavor.

If you work with consistency and focus in alignment with your authentic self over a long enough time horizon, you will wake up one day and realize you’re living the life you always dreamed of.
You can blame outside circumstances and feel better about your inadequacies or you can take ownership for where you fall short and improve in those areas. Only one path leads to growth and breakthrough.
