The word “Israel” appears approx. 73–77 times in the New Testament.

In every instance, it refers to ethnic or national Israel—that is, the physical descendants of Jacob—not the Church.

In the Gospels and Acts, “Israel” always refers to the Jewish people or nation (e.g., Matthew 2:6; 10:6; 15:24; Acts 1:6; 2:22).

In Paul’s epistles, especially Romans 9–11, “Israel” clearly refers to the Jewish people. Paul distinguishes between ethnic Israel and Gentile believers and affirms that God has not rejected Israel.

The only debated passage is Galatians 6:16, where Paul says “peace be upon them, and upon the Israel of God.” Some interpret this as a reference to the Church, but the most natural reading is that it refers to believing Jews, not Gentiles or the Church as a whole.

The New Testament never uses the word “Israel” to refer to the Church. In every single case, except one debated verse, it means ethnic, national Israel. The Church is included in the people of God through union with Messiah, but it does not replace Israel or take on its name.

Christian Nationalism and The Tragedy of Misplaced Longing:

The Constitution of the United States is the most ingenious government charter ever written. While far from perfect, it is the best that mankind, this side of the Kingdom of God, will ever create. Why? Because by championing liberty and freedom for all, it embodies the best of biblical values that we can aspire to in this age. If it is so wonderful, however, then why are so many young Christians gravitating toward other forms of government, even entertaining Nazism? Is it because they are passionate followers of Christ? Just the opposite. It is because of their rejection of biblical hope. It is because they refuse to embrace patient endurance as we await our King. It is a rejection, a refusal to join the early Church cry of "Maranatha" Come Lord Jesus!

To embrace biblical hope requires first acknowledging the shortcomings and relative hopelessness of this present age. That's painful, especially to those who are still young and idealistic. Accepting what the Bible teaches, namely that a perfect earthly government is coming in which Jesus, the Jewish King and Messiah, will rule the whole world, is a bitter pill to those who demand perfection now, who have not learned patience. Recognizing the flaws in our current systems—acknowledging their brokenness—is incredibly frustrating. Rather than allowing the "futility of creation" to drive them to yearn for the age of perfection, or to long for the return of Jesus and the Messianic age, they reject embracing the groan of all creation and demand a king. It's an old story.

Paul the Apostle summarized it best:

"For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now. And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body. For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it." (Romans 8:18–26)

* He's a man of God
* He's the Lord's anointed
* You're being divisive
* It's a spiritual attack from Satan
* You don't know his heart
* He's done so much good for the kingdom
* God forgives him
* You're not perfect either
* Ignore the social media mob
* It's not the right time
* Stop spreading gossip

All of this is so embarrassing.

God loves righteousness, justice, wisdom, and the truth.
