This is not new data, but this video came up in my IG feed, which prompted this.

Did you know that NG tube placement is consistently rated as the most painful procedure we do in the ED?

It has been ranked worse than abscess I&D, fracture reduction, and Foley placement.

This is why I always think twice about necessity before ordering one on a non-intubated patient. If I do order one, it's after a cocktail of viscous lidocaine, nebulized lidocaine, and Afrin.
