NO EXTRA CHARGES FOR UK PASSPORT INTERVENTION - FG

The Federal Government has clarified that Nigerians participating in the ongoing special passport intervention exercise in the United Kingdom are not required to pay any charges beyond the official passport fees.

In a statement, the Special Adviser to the Minister of Interior on Media and Publicity, Alao Babatunde, indicates that the official fees remain 150 dollars for a five-year passport and 230 dollars for a ten-year passport, excluding bank charges.

The statement stresses that neither the Ministry of Interior nor the Nigeria Immigration Service has introduced any additional charges for the intervention exercise.

The Minister’s media aide adds that consultations are ongoing with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to address inconveniences experienced by applicants during the exercise.

Applicants are also advised to take advantage of the contactless biometric passport application system.

Update on UK Special Intervention Exercise: Day 1

Following a brief technical downtime earlier yesterday morning that temporarily disrupted biometric capturing especially at Manchester center, and its prompt resolution, the exercise proceeded smoothly.

A total of two hundred and thirty (230) applicants with booked appointments were processed and had their biometrics captured, ninety (90) at the London Centre and one hundred and forty (140)
at the Manchester Centre.

The Service acknowledges and appreciates the patience and understanding demonstrated by applicants, and reaffirms its commitment to ensuring a seamless and efficient passport application process.
