The truth is that some of you confuse ‘performative’ with ‘something I’d never do’.

That post reminded me of one time I gave my ex my sneakers after a night out because her feet were hurting from wearing heels. I walked home in my socks.

You’d do the same the same if you were in my shoes but then it doesn’t matter if someone posts how they show their partner affection or not.

So when I see someone carrying their partner, giving them their jacket, hiding slippers or swapping shoes, my first thought isn’t “they’re performing.”

Sometimes people are simply in love.

Not every act of kindness needs to make sense to people who aren’t in the relationship.
