“If God is Love, He is, by definition, something more than mere kindness…though He has often rebuked us and condemned us, He has never regarded us with contempt. He has paid us the intolerable compliment of loving us, in the deepest, most tragic, most inexorable sense.”
Yolanda Adams on homophobia in the Church
"Listen, I am 64 years old. I have seen everything in the church. And again, it has everything to do with the way you were nurtured. My family nurtured us to believe and know that everyone that gets to this earth got here because they are God's children. And why would you want to ever hurt anything that God loves? I have cousins, I have friends, I have dear, dear friends in and out of all music and arts and sports genres. And I never looked at them as anything other than beautiful people. And it is not my job ever to, to hurt anyone or debase anyone because of who they are. God is not surprised by anyone he created. He knew who you would be before your mom and dad got together. So, why am I disrespecting what God respects and loves?"
I don’t understand how some people’s takeaway of what happened in Minnesota was:
- praying is bad
- the trans community is the victim
So stupid. Time to get off this crazy app and read the Bible
Today is Sunday, August 24.
#Dbacks SS Geraldo Perdomo has 84 RBIs over 473 AB.
Dodgers DH Shohei Ohtani has 83 RBIs over 492 AB.
Ohtani (152) also has more than double the amount of strikeouts as Perdomo (61).
The dbacks have 3 great young position player to build around:
Corbin Carroll
Gabby Moreno
Gerry Perdomo
I would love if we can develop some arms like Daniel Eagen or Kohl Drake to be core of our future pitching staff
I see a lot of people saying turn off notifications but I’d like to say this, I keep them partially open because I like interacting with fans. Today was an example of going too far. No matter the reason we cannot send this stuff especially to people not involved. I share the same exact love you all do for the Mariners. Ever since I was kid it’s the only team I’ve ever loved. I totally understand that there is more good people on the internet then there is bad and if I’m ready to receive the praise then I better welcome the criticism as well. So I won’t run from the critics that’s part of it and if I don’t like it then well I just have to play better. I didn’t get to where I am today because I only reveled in praise but because I got real comfortable with failure. I won’t let a few bad apples ruin that for me and everyone else I’ve gotten to know since my time here. I’ve already played 9 innings with my mental health and won that, so there’s nothing people can tell me that I’ve already told myself. With anything we keep it moving forward! Thank you all for the love as always. Go Mariners always!
@GoldyHappens@fuzzyfromyt Ketel has been so good the last couple of years! Literally the best! Before 23’ I never was the biggest fan of his but never hated him. I do agree this story is kind of stupid tho. Journalist are gonna journalist 🤷♂️
Ketel always came off as a self absorbed and coddled so not surprise by this. I’ve just accepted it’s who he is. Thx @Gambo987 for the info and having a respectful opinion. I do love Ketel and know he is great tho
Here is what I will say about Ketel Marte. I said immediately after that @danbickley was not wrong and that there was a lot more to the story. Marte is a super talented elite player but a coddled star (like many in sports are these days) who may have a negative influence on others. Now the public is all in on defending Marte at all costs regardless of the facts because they love him. Truth is Marte, who did not play the final game before the All-Star break, was supposed to travel back with his party and those of Suarez and Carroll from the All-Star game in Atlanta with a plane waiting for them BUT decided to take a vaca in the Dominican Republic knowing he would miss a game or two vs the Cardinals. Something the Dbacks and his teammates were not aware of. I am told he did not find out about his house being burglarized until he was in the DR. Marte is who he is. A truly special player who is somewhat self-absorbed, so the question becomes is his talent alone enough to ignore the other issues? That is something the Diamondbacks will have to figure out. My son has ONE Diamondbacks jersey he got about two months ago - it is a City Connect Serpientes Ketel Marte. So I get the fan base and love for Marte I really do. My gut tells me Marte will not be traded but the coddling will have to stop, and he will have to be more accountable. He is too good of a player to give up on, so it is best to work together to find common ground/compromise and do what is best for the team.
