The best moments were in fact given by Indian women by defeating Chinese on Japanese soil
1. Brilliant and precise team work by Indian women hockey team against Chinese hockey team in finals to win the gold. Icing on the cake was individual brilliance by Lalremsiami Hmarzote with that reverse shot in her 200thgame which no goalkeeper in the world could have stopped.
2. Vithya Ramraj’s 400m lap to outpace the Chinese girl to make the women team win the 4x400m gold. Best display of perseverance, passion and determination. This was simply par excellence effort.
3. Lovlina Borgohai (@LovlinaBorgohai) punching her Chinese opponent to win the boxing gold in the 75 kg women category. What a marvellous victory!
4. Savita stopping the Chinese penalty stroke in women hockey finals thereby denying China any chance of equalising. Outstanding save!
THE TASTE OF VICOTRY OF INDIAN WOMEN OVER CHINESE WOMEN WAS SIMPLY DIFFERENT
5. Sujeet Kalkal’s recovery from 2-9 down to defeat Kudeev of Tajikistan 10-9 to win the wrestling gold in the last 1:50. Simply brilliant. This was pure grit with confidence.
6. Team brilliance of Indian hockey team to outrightly win the Hockey finals 5-1 against Malaysia. Glimpses here of one brilliant field goal by precise team work and another master class penalty stroke with only three players.
7. Kumkum’s brilliant throw to score a 10 and win the first ever Recurve Archery gold.
8. Akash’s solid boxing punches against a Korean opponent to win the 80 kg gold.
9. Vaibhav Suryawanshi’s bashing of Pakistani bowler Saim Ayub and then Abhishek’s apt and immediate reply to Saim Ayub’s immature drama of baby-cradle celebration of mocking Vaibha’s 15 years age. Abhishek Sharma, immediately answered back against Saim Ayub in the very same over by smashing a flurry of boundaries and sixes and taking 16 runs off the over.
10. Aman Sherwat’s grit, resilience and resolve to defeat the North Korean wrestler by not only recovering in the end but also withstanding all drama by the North Korean wrestler.

Happy Birthday to the greatest singer ever Lata Mangeshkar 🎉
An iconic, melancholy farewell song from the historic 1960 Indian epic film Mughal-E-Azam.
Written by the Shakeel Badayuni, composed by Naushad Ali, and sung by the iconic Lata Mangeshkar, this track provides the emotional backdrop for one of Indian cinema's most heart-wrenching final farewells.
Naushad deliberately chose minimum instrumentation for this song. He relied heavily on the raw emotional delivery of Lata Mangeshkar's voice to let Shakeel Badayuni's heartbreaking poetry take center stage.
The soundtrack had 12 songs out of which 9 were by Lataji.
Picturised on Madhubala.
This track from Doosra Aadmi , 1977 is one of the rare and celebrated masterpieces that brings together three of India's greatest playback legends: Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, and Mohammed Rafi.
The music was composed by Rajesh Roshan, who masterfully transitioned the song's tempo to map the characters' psychological shifts—moving from slow to medium-paced, skyrocketing during Rafi's segment, and then calming back down to close with Kishore and Lata. Rajesh Roshan famously integrated electronic rhythm structures alongside traditional instruments, which was highly innovative for 1977.
It starts as a breezy, upbeat melody sung by Kishore Kumar (picturized on Rishi Kapoor) and Lata Mangeshkar (picturized on Raakhee ).
Mid-way through, the mood changes dramatically when Rafi enters. (Picturised on Shashi Kapoor) .
Rafi's soulful and high-tempo rendition shifts the track entirely. This "late entry" is highly regarded by music critics as one of the most impactful vocal entrances in Hindi cinema history.

Once, Kishore Kumar ji asked Lata ji, "Didi, among the songs I’ve sung, which one is your favorite?"
Lata ji replied, "Dada, should I tell you or sing it for you?"
Kishore Kumar ji immediately said, "Didi, please sing it!"
Lata ji laughed and said, "Not now… maybe some other time."
On his next birthday, Lataji sent him a gift - a Kishore Kumar song she specially recorded in HMV studio and sang for him.
It was a rare and touching gesture — a beautiful tribute

Sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Mohammed Rafi, this classic song from the 1973 film Abhimaan remains a fan favorite for its playful lyrics and mesmerizing melody. Music SD. The song is famous for using Rupak Taal—an uncommon, 7-beat rhythmic cycle, rather than the standard 6 or 8 beats commonly used in Indian cinema. It features superstar Amitabh Bachchan and his then newly-wed wife Jaya Bhaduri. Lyrics Majrooh.
At the outset I want to thank my dear friend Upjeet @Upjeet7 for digging out this treasure. It's such a rare song with lot of history. For one , this song is from the movie Taqdeer released in 1943, some eighty odd years ago. For such an ancient movie the print of the song is very clear. This is the first movie of Nargis as a heroine in the lead role. Earlier she had appeared as a child artist. She was just 14. And her hero Motilal was 33. Can you imagine!! This song is a duet by Shamshad Begum and Motilal. Frankly this is the first time I am hearing him sing. The music was composed by Rafiq Ghaznavi. Frankly I haven't heard about him. Lyrics by Meharul Qadri. Motilal is also the hero on whom the song is picturised along with Nargis. Directed by Mehboob Khan. Nargis's real name was Fatima, but Mehboob Khan didn't think it suited her, and so for the film changed it to Nargis. Very interesting song 😎

Catch RD to spring surprises like giving a typical Lataji love song to Asha, and a typical Asha song like kaanta laga to Lata. But Asha has done full justice to the song. Asha Parekh and Dharmendra look very good together. Directed by
