National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), under Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt. of India — advancing technologies for sustainable use of ocean resources.
A delegation of the "BRICS Chamber of Commerce & Industry" #BRICS_CCI called on, led by its Chairman Sh Sameep Shastri, who incidentally also happens to be the grandson of former PM Late Sh Lal Bahadur Shastri.
The members of the delegation gave a brief about the Chamber's initiatives over the past decade to promote trade facilitation, business-to-business engagement, women entrepreneurship, StartUp networking, Artificial Intelligence, research partnerships and sectoral cooperation among BRICS and BRICS Plus countries.
They also discussed ways to strengthen industry-led global engagement and collaboration across the BRICS and BRICS Plus ecosystem through innovation, StartUps, emerging technologies, research collaboration and entrepreneurship.
Reiterated to them that India's growing stature as a global innovation hub and its leadership in emerging technologies provide an ideal opportunity for industry organisations to build stronger international partnerships that contribute to national growth and global development. Institutions working in the BRICS space could strive to create a distinct value proposition through knowledge, innovation and meaningful partnerships rather than limiting themselves to conventional networking platforms.

"Technology and innovation cannot realise their full potential as long as kept locked inside government confines. For the first time, after PM @narendramodi took over, India is witnessing a structural shift from a government-centric innovation model to a more collaborative ecosystem involving academia, industry, StartUps and private enterprises".

"AI, Nuclear, Space and Quantum technologies will determine the contours of future growth, global competitiveness and geopolitical positioning. Countries that fall behind in these technologies, risk falling behind in both development and national security".

During the #Hyderabad visit, inaugurated and walked through the Advanced R&D Facility for FLUOROCHEMICALS at #CSIR-IICT.
A rare world-class facility, testifying India’s capabilities in fluorochemical technologies, innovation and industrial applications.
My address to the faculty and students at the "Indian Institute of Chemical Technology" #IICT, #Hyderabad.
Key takeaways:
"Emphasised stronger partnership between agri innovation and agri industry to drive India's next phase of economic growth through a new genre of Agri #StartUps and Agri Entrepreneurs.
India's agriculture sector continues to offer enormous untapped potential. During the last 12 years of the @NarendraModi regime, the country's priorities have expanded beyond crop improvement to developing technologies that convert agricultural waste and residues into reusable value-added products, creating new opportunities for farmers, industry and thereby also ensuring value addition to India's overall economic growth.
Recent #CSIR technologies like producing compressed biogas from food and agricultural waste, and converting captured carbon dioxide into Dimethyl Ether, also exemplify India's growing commitment to clean energy, circular economy and the conversion of waste into valuable national resources. lnnovators need to increasingly align themselves with industry, StartUps, MSMEs and technology partners in order to accelerate commercialisation and sustainability”.
Privileged to receive and welcome Her Excellency Sanae Takaichi, Prime Minister of #Japan, on behalf of the Govt of India, on her arrival at Palam Technical Airport, New Delhi, late this evening, on a 3-day visit to India where her engagements include the “15th India–Japan Annual Summit”.
The visit assumes special significance in the backdrop of growing strategic partnership between the two countries.

#Nagaland Minister for Tourism and Education Sh Temjen Imna Along called on at Seva Teerth today.
Had a detailed discussion about promoting lavender related Agri entrepreneurship in Nagaland. The success story of Purple Revolution under Aroma Mission, originating from #Bhaderwah in J&K, has been adopted by the State of Nagaland since 2022, beginning with Lavender cultivation by a #StartUp group in the Zunheboto region of the State.
Also discussed schemes under the Ministry of Science & Technology to support Universities and Colleges in the State by way of mentorship, financial assistance and infrastructure development.
The Minister was accompanied by Advisor Science & Technology, Govt of Nagaland, Mr Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu.

Researchers from NIOT-ACOSTI, in collaboration with Pondicherry University, Sri Vijaya Puram Campus, have published a research article titled "Efficacy of Phallusia arabica-mediated tenorite nanoparticles in growth inhibition of clinical pathogens and A549 human lung cancer cells" in the journal Scientific Reports.
The study reports the successful green synthesis of copper oxide (tenorite, CuO) nanoparticles using the aqueous extract of the marine solitary tunicate Phallusia arabica. Comprehensive physicochemical characterization confirmed the formation of stable, biofunctionalized nanoparticles. The biosynthesized CuO nanoparticles demonstrated significant antimicrobial activity against clinically relevant pathogenic microorganisms and exhibited potent cytotoxic effects against A549 human lung cancer cells, highlighting their potential for biomedical and therapeutic applications.
This collaborative research underscores the immense potential of marine bioresources from the A& N Islands as sustainable and environmentally benign platforms for the green synthesis of advanced functional nanomaterials. The findings further reinforce the value of interdisciplinary collaboration between NIOT-ACOSTI and Pondicherry University, Sri Vijaya Puram Campus, in advancing research in marine biotechnology and nanotechnology and in developing innovative, eco-friendly technologies with broad biomedical and societal relevance.

Testing and demonstration of continuous pilot-scale mass cultivation of the indigenous seaweed Gracilaria edulis using the tube-net method in the deep waters of Chidiyatapu, South Andaman, recorded a remarkable 6.67-fold increase in biomass during the period from May to June 2026. This substantial enhancement in biomass demonstrates the species' potential for economically viable commercial-scale cultivation. NIOT is in the process of development of end-to-end post-harvest processing technologies to facilitate the establishment of a sustainable seaweed-based industry in the Andaman Islands, thereby supporting value addition, livelihood generation, and the blue economy.
