The destruction of Shifa Hospital has to be one of the worst atrocities committed in any conflict.

I spent many medical missions to Shifa Hospital and worked with colleagues to improve care for patients, and the Specialst Surgery building where we operated, often has been completely destroyed.

Shifa hospital is the largest hospital in Gaza and looks after the most complex patients as well as being the major trauma centre.

This is beyond comprehension and utterly reprehensible.

This is pure evil.

I don't know about you, but It's almost impossible to function as a human being.

I know this is true for many people around the world, and the reality is that the carnage being carried out by Israel is shocking and sickening.

It has changed my perception of the world forever.

I will never trust Western media or journalists again who push out constant lies and do not challenge or indeed provide evidence. They think we are stupid.

The silence and complicity of the genocide by western governments are beyond comprehension.

Seeing horrific videos of dangling people that have been blasted into smithereens.

Parts of people being carried in polythene bags with the body parts visible but unrecognisable in the sea of blood and fluid.

People killed holding a white flag. A mother and child lying motionless on the floor with blood pouring from their bodies.

Children shivering in shock and fear

I will never ever forget the helpless voice of a little girl asking to be saved on a telephone call but then killed together with the ambulance crew sent to save her. This will haunt me forever. Hind Rajab is her name and will be etched in our broken hearts forever.

Casualties that can not be recovered or saved due to sniper fire

Almost 400 healthcare workers killed.

Ambulances targeted and crew killed

All hospitals targeted with bombs and soldiers shooting medical staff

Mosques, churches and all of the universities destroyed

Amputations and other surgical operations being carried out with no anaesthesia

Endless bodies covered in white shrouds being comforted by the arms and tears from their loved ones

New terminologies and acronyms like

Wounded Childed No Surviving Family - WCNSF

Or

Educide - mass destruction Gazas educational infrastructure

Bodies decomposing for days

Large mass graves

Israeli soldiers celebrating on tik tok, making a mockery of death and killing

Prisoners and civilians being forced to kneel in underwear and blindfolded and humiliated.

28 000 killed

12 000 children killed

68 000 injured

60% of buildings destroyed or damaged

Displacement of 1.7 million people and being displaced multiple times like the hunger games or squid games

Leaflets in the air forcing civilians to move and then targeting them whilst evacuating

Israeli civilians blocking aid into Gaza

I can't possibly imagine the anguish and horrors facing the Gazans every single day.

I have been to Gaza many times for medical missions and our current collective helplessness is overwhelming.

This needs to stop for the sake of humanity.

There is no trust left in our governments or leaders and in human rights.

The world has changed forever as the genocide against the Palestinians of Gaza is being livestreamed.

As a father of two daughters that are about Hind Rajab's age, her story hit me particularly hard.

I cannot begin to imagine the distress she went through in her last moments, highlighting the complete absence of humanity in what Israel inflicts on the Palestinians.

At 6 years old she managed to call an ambulance from a car that had been targeted by the IDF (you can see the car in the video 👇). She was wounded but had miraculously survived, surrounded by the dead bodies of her aunt, uncle and her 3 cousins. She stayed on the phone during three hours, telling health services she was "so scared" (you can hear a recording of the call in the video).

A Red Crescent ambulance was sent to get her. The ambulance was never heard from again.

10 days after Hind Rajab's car was found with 6 decomposing bodies inside, including hers. The ambulance that had been dispatched to fetch her was also found, utterly destroyed (you can see it in the video) with the bodies of 2 medics inside.

Immensely revolting.
