Roberto Carlos: "For someone who trained as hard as I did... Cristiano. Cristiano has been more physical and more professional. Messi is spectacular. Messi is like Zidane—a showman, a number one. They each have their own style of playing football.

But if you're talking about young players, I would say Cristiano. Because of his hard work and his dedication. If you want a long career as a professional footballer, you have to do what Cristiano does."

John Obi Mikel: "So you'd tell young players to follow Cristiano's example?"

Roberto Carlos: "Exactly. They're both fantastic, and it's very difficult to choose between them because they're both at an incredibly high level. But if I had to lean one way, I would lean slightly towards Cristiano."
