My partner this morning at 5:45am helping me on the fields. Thanks Coach Brown, Coach Mireles, both Coach Sailorss, and Coach Grace for coming shortly after! The Rain in not winning today! We are playing baseball and softball!
@indystar How did this make the paper? I coached accross the diamond and support the staff 100%. Most kids in our state would be lucky to have this coach lead them. Our team took the second game of a double header last season and I feel the subject of this article was the main reason.
Every Year I try and have a message for our coaches and athletes on which direction we want to head. For the 2026-2027 Sports Season we are going to focus on the broken window. If our building has one broken window and nobody fixes it, pretty soon, more windows get broken.
Why? Because it sends a message.
It says… this place doesn’t care.
It says… standards don’t matter here.
It says… anything goes.
And once that message is out… chaos follows.
Now let me bring that into our room… into the Elwood Athletic Department… into our standard.
We don’t lose because of big things first.
We lose because of little things we allow to live.
One athlete late to a lift.
One missed class.
One half-speed rep.
One bad attitude.
One shortcut.
And if nobody fixes it… if nobody says anything… if nobody lives the standard…
That’s broken glass.
And broken glass spreads.
Here’s the truth:
Championship teams don’t tolerate broken glass.
They fix it immediately.
Because they understand something most people don’t
What you allow… you promote.
What you ignore… you accept.
What you accept… becomes your culture.
In the Elwood Athletic Department… that’s not who we are.
We are TPW – Tough People Win.
Tough people don’t step over broken glass.
They pick it up.
Tough people don’t say “that’s not my job.”
They say, “That’s not our standard.”
So here’s the challenge:
When you see it… fix it.
When you feel it… address it.
When you’re tempted to be it… fight it.
Because this isn’t about perfection.
This is about ownership.
Every locker… every rep… every class… every conversation…
We are either building something elite…
Or we are letting broken glass pile up.
And I’ll leave you with this:
We are not trying to be average.
We are not trying to be good.
We are building a program that people respect… that people feel… that people know is different the second they walk in.
That only happens when the standard is protected… by everyone.
So don’t walk past it.
Don’t ignore it.
Don’t be it.
Fix it.
Because around here…
Tough ELWOOD People Win.
What a surprise! My wife and daughter rocked this! I love seeing former players turn into grown men and navigate the world. Love all of you guys!
(I’m glad I made 50 as well Mathew Cunningham)
Panther Baseball gets two wins today. Game 1 8-2 and Game 2 11-2! Panthers are on fire on this beautiful Saturday! Have a great rest of your weekend! @michelle_garmon@CISR_Podcast@hunt_Rob
@elwoodpanthers1 Thank you! I’m lucky to have a great family and a great team. I’m blessed to have an AD that I consider a member of both! Appreciate you, Ryan!
Thank you to our mystery host for feeding us at Andy’s tonight! Also a huge thank you to Pastor Mireles for leading us in His word.
Tonight was iron sharpens iron with a mindset of what do I know for certain instead of what happens if I fail.
@elwoodpanthers1
I always give morning after thought to my team. Today it has nothing to do with my team. I am super thankful for Dan Adams (@umpiredan55) and his team out of Kokomo. They do a phenomenal job. Win or lose, the game is always officiated the right way.
@IHSAA1@elwoodpanthers1
We arrived strong as one and we left strong as one! This team is building momentum, but tonight we came out on the losing end to a good Maconaquah team 5-1.

Today was a good day building camaraderie with our backs between the storms!
Unfortunately Mother Nature got the W tonight! Our program appreciates the effort of our AD Ryan Vanskyock, our principal, Alumni Derek Connors, and Coach Brown!
Control the Controllable’s!
A new tradition with Elwood baseball, this is our first weekly team dinner. This season we will start working from the inside out instead of the outside in. Thank you so much to Pastor Mireles for leading us tonight.
A huge thanks to the Tin Plate for treating us to dinner!
