🇺🇸🇺🇦 A BILLIONAIRE’S SON HAS GIVEN UKRAINE $1.33 BILLION. AND HE’S NOT STOPPING.
Howard Buffett could have lived comfortably away from the war. Instead, the 71-year-old son of Warren Buffett has become one of Ukraine’s most remarkable private supporters.
Since Russia launched its full-scale invasion, his foundation has committed approximately $1.33 billion to helping Ukrainians rebuild their lives.
And the scale of that support is extraordinary.
🍞 642 million meals funded for people affected by the war.
🚜 823,000 hectares of farmland cultivated with the foundation’s support, helping farmers return to work.
🦾 $77 million for Superhumans, providing prosthetics and rehabilitation to wounded soldiers and civilians.
💣 $167 million dedicated to clearing landmines and other explosive hazards.
🏠 344,000 windows replaced in buildings damaged by the fighting.
📚 $8.9 million to help restore Kharkiv’s Factor-Druk printing house after a Russian missile strike.
Buffett has also travelled to Ukraine 27 times, visiting communities, meeting farmers and seeing the destruction firsthand.
In December 2023, Kyiv honoured him with a place on its Walk of the Brave.
There’s something particularly striking about his approach. Much of the money goes towards things that rarely make international headlines: getting fields back into production, replacing shattered windows, helping someone walk again.
These are the things that allow a country to keep functioning while fighting for its survival.
Ukraine has received help from governments, international organisations and ordinary people around the world. Buffett’s contribution shows just how much one individual can accomplish when enormous wealth is put to work on the ground.
For the Ukrainians whose lives have been changed by that support, the impact is far more personal than any billion-dollar figure.
Thank you, Howard Buffett. 🇺🇦❤️
