Telling us that we should scream and draw attention to ourselves, or call 999 to check, or wave down a bus, is like saying she could have stopped it. She couldn’t have. This was not down to her. We should be able to trust that a police officer is not going to murder us.

When the antivaxxers, 5g truthers, lockdown sceptics and statue shaggers were flooding trafalgar Square every other weekend during a national lockdown the police did nothing but its nice to know their limit is women mourning peacefully.
Please remember Blessing Olusegun, whose body was found on a beach in Sussex last year. Her death remains unexplained. The police said there was nothing to investigate.
Female abduction / murder is extremely rare. Yes we should all be vigilant when out alone. But this level of fear-mongering isn’t healthy. And men’s mental health is an issue as well. Calling all men out as dangerous is bad for our sons, brothers, partners.
