.)In the end he stayed, running a café,selling antiques, & in recent years, designed and built a beautiful Arabic-style home for himself, his mother & sisters(with a, spare room for me ❤️).

We have kept in contact, including this morning (I needed help with place names 🤦🏼‍♀️) For safety reasons, it’s not always been possible to talk candidly, & had to be a simple exchange checking he and his family were ok.

With just 5 days available to spend in Syria, Abed insisted on showing me around Damascus & suggested visiting Palmyra. I soon realised that Abed knew everyone & everyone knew, liked and respected him.
