The hard decision when all of your co-workers are eating pizza in the staff room and you aren't sure whether to go and awkwardly eat your gluten free rice noodles or just stay in your office...#celiac disease
This is a delicious recipe that goes well with rice. It's #glutenfree#dairyfree and #vegan although my friends do love it as a steak sauce as well. https://t.co/gOevm9tGn3
@AliWalshGF @Lukebaynham91 @lukehonnoraty Yes, I think it's all of the stress! I don't know about you but where I live in BC the funding usually doesn't cover all of the needs.
@glutenfreeriet It's funny how we have these symptoms, but when you tell the Dr. you're tired, like really tired all the time, etc. they just pass it off. They say "you work full-time, you're a single mom," and I knew it had to be something else too. I just didn't know what.
I have celiac. First when I had anemia the doctors said it was because I'm a woman and wasn't eating enough meat. Then when I had strange liver results they said since I'm a woman I was gaining & losing too much weight. With those 2 symptoms, my brother got diagnosed right away.
@glutenfreeriet Yes when everyone else is eating that it's really hard! My job orders in these delicious smelling cinnamon buns every 2 weeks ๐. To make myself feel better I bring a couple home for my daughter, who doesn't have celiac disease.
I have #celiacdisease Every day, every meal, is something I have to plan for. I have to cook at home because of restaurant exposures. I go without carbs to avoid the cost. My daughter has to eat like me because it gets everywhere in the house. Anyone else have this problem?
@AliWalshGF @Lukebaynham91 @lukehonnoraty In addition, I was working as a primary school teacher, and boy did that job make me hungry. Im not sure why, but it was so mentally taxing, that I was eating my entire full calories just at work. Now I still teach but I do it online, so that's helping as well.
@AliWalshGF @Lukebaynham91 @lukehonnoraty Then my Dad, who I was very close to, passed away suddenly in a horrific work accident and I ate basically fries & potato chips for 3 months which didn't help.
@AliWalshGF @Lukebaynham91 @lukehonnoraty I saw a GP and a nutritionist and she said "don't worry so much about your diet, allow yourself to eat unhealthy things sometimes," because I had NFLD (before I was diagnosed with celiac) & I actually gained weight with that advice!๐
@Lukebaynham91 @AliWalshGF@lukehonnoraty I was always hungry, especially for unhealthy foods. I would eat too much food for each and every meal. Now I actually get full!
@AliWalshGF @Lukebaynham91 @lukehonnoraty Definitely less simple carbs and fat. All the treats I'd have, everyone saying "have some cake, or treats," all of that stuff is out. I don't trust restaurants so those high fat meals are out except travelling. I cook for myself: veggies, fruits, proteins, rice & corn.
Why is there gluten in some potato chips?? When you've just realized you've accidentally eaten gluten and you're terrified about the aftermath. ๐คฏ๐ฑ #celiacdisease
@VerduLab@Columbia@CeliacatCUMC I have celiac & grew up with chronic strep throat and terrible flus/colds. As an adult, before diagnosis, I was literally always sick, including headaches. Being gluten free, or at least trying the best I can, has helped but I still get sick sometimes.
