Privacy and compliance don’t have to be opposites.

@gm_usi from @TACEO_IO explains how Merces handles both.

Before a private payment settles, it can run compliance checks against sanction lists, blocklists, and AML requirements through an integrated compliance engine.

Only transactions that pass those checks are allowed to settle.

Privacy isn’t just a unique selling point anymore. It’s becoming a core requirement for public chains that want to attract serious institutions.

@gm_usi from @TACEO_IO explains why institutional adoption changes the equation: banks and other large players need privacy to be addressed before they can comfortably operate on public rails.

That’s also why TACEO launched Merces with Monad as one of its launch partners.

Check out Tree-BTE 🌳, our new tree-based approach to designing batched threshold encryption (BTE), the cryptographic tool for encrypted mempools.

Tree-BTE can be instantiated with different cryptographic hardness assumptions to yield different properties. For example, with a lattice-based hardness assumption, we get a post-quantum secure BTE scheme with >100x faster decryption than prior lattice-based schemes.

Instantiations based on other assumptions (such as DDH, DCR, LWR) are also possible. Check out our paper on eprint.

Public blockchains are transparent by design.

@gm_usi from @TACEO_IO explains why that becomes a problem for institutions moving serious capital onchain: balances, transactions, counterparties, and activity can all be traced.

The opportunity is bringing privacy to public chains without giving up the liquidity, users, and openness that make them valuable in the first place.

The most important thing is still simple: build something people actually want to use.

@danielvf puts it well: you don’t need to make millions of people happy on day one.

Start by making a dozen people really happy with what you built.

If you can do that, there are probably more people like them.

[Monad Devs @monad_dev]

Your first users probably won’t magically find you.

@pareen’s advice: DM 200 people, talk to everyone who replies, and bring the early believers into one group chat.

Listen closely, ship what they ask for, and keep the conversation active.

Fetching one piece of data from storage can be expensive.

@danielvf explains the core idea behind MIP-8: instead of fetching one value at a time, fetch a whole chunk of nearby values together.

Getting 128 values can take roughly the same time as getting one, which makes nearby data dramatically cheaper to access.

Think ~100 gas instead of ~8,000 gas.

No shortcuts around live funds.

Vibe coding can get you to a working product fast, but that doesn’t mean the product is secure.

Client-side admin controls, missing access controls, and exposed user data are the kinds of mistakes you need to catch before real users or real money are involved.

Take the time to check what’s happening behind the frontend.
