An update on my inspirational trip to Uganda, thanks for all the support with @kelly_swingler @ellieee710 @KatrinaMCollier @KingfisherCoach @gdwhalley@Damiana_HR musical links must be viewed @TimScottHR 😎https://t.co/Y9qeFrEnw7
@LinksGems@DunavertyC5911 Played both Macrihanish courses and completely missed out Dunaverty even though I went down and had a look round. I remember arriving at Dunbar in thick fog, delayed tee time and then it gradually lifted, wonderful course.
The first in a long line of long summer evenings watching overhyped, dull, cautious football finishing in penalties. I’ll need a couple of good books to get me through June and July
@DanNeidle@Jan_Leeming Just for interest what's your view of Hypothecated taxation @DanNeidle ? Eg Road Tax for Roads, NI for Health, Social Care and Pensions, local Taxes for local expenditure etc. I ask with no expertise in the field but it's always intrigued in terms of ramping up accountability?
@joshi@ManchesterMill Superbly written, it's why I subscribe without a thought. I know a few people who've touched his operation since he became Mayor, all impressed with his ability to collaborate and involve individuals and organisations. He's only human though with all the nuances you cover so well
Most workers used to get paid (via contract) 1.5 x their hourly rate for overtime and in some cases 2 x pay. Already eroded, overtime pay will more rapidly erode to 1 x rates if Reform’s no tax on overtime became law, in effect a taxpayer subsidy to employers racing to the bottom
@psmcg76@KirstieMAllsopp@wesstreeting@BBCr4today For some it's not getting a mortgage that's the issue, there are many properties for sale only available on a buy to let basis or where prices are inflated due to demand from buy to let purchasers. Anyway to write as if the property would no longer exist is clearly nonsense.
@afneil You shouldn't need price controls, in a cost of living crisis it's always individuals who make sacrifices, most are forced to do so by their own circumstances. Volunteering is an option, doing your best to help your customers, as Osborne once said "We're all in this together"
@Simon_Ingari The person would probably win a Wages Act claim at ET if the 2 weeks notice given was accepted by the employer initially. If the notice given was contractual then add Small Claims Court as an option. It’s a pain in the arse & take ages to be listed, chances are they would settle
@alexwickham@anandMenon1 How would putting Rejoin in a manifesto at a GE be “ inauthentic”? Either way it would be a democratic mandate, foolish to say otherwise
@AllyFogg@samjbeth It’s odd that commentators fail to mention economic growth (surpassing London) productivity growth, graduate jobs, inward investment. He has an ability to collaborate which is underestimated too. It’s those left behind you’d be concerned about but he’s making a good effort.
@mikeparry8@RachelReevesMP I remember going to see Mud at the Locarno in 75, had a lovely T Bone and Chips in one beforehand, fabulous. Not been since, shocked it’s closing.
@ukgolfguy I played Shishkine last summer. I get it's tough to get to but £45 was exceptional value. I also played Corrie on Arran, small 9 hole course in lovely condition, views/location reminiscent of Crans Sur Sierre, £15. Find these courses, play them, leave the headliners alone.
@iAmJoshHunt@DGWilkinson I worked on the edges of a Productivity study out of Cable’s office during the Coalition. The demographic issues are long known but rarely acknowledged in public. Fundamental issues (pre covid remember) in the UK workplace were highlighted but lost in the political machine.
Utter garbage, the same players, the same issues, sideways, backwards, can’t tackle, won’t cross, lack of any intensity. These players are flawed individuals, get rid or they’ll just continue to get managers sacked.
Manchester has an incredibly stark East-West divide.
Uses ONS social profile data to show demographic skew between professional & more manual labour.
No other UK city appears to have such a clear split.
@GJMarshy If you look at the price & scarcity of property, school rolls being full despite falling birth rates, the number of businesses set up to provide tutoring to pass the 11+ (eg Kumon Maths) then Trafford must attract professionals from beyond because of the school system? 👍
