@RailUsersIe There is nothing particularly unique in railway signalling systems containing multiple generations of equipment. What is at issue here is the HMI and overlay management systems along with the hardware, software and telecoms providing the links to the remote interlockings.
@RailUsersIe Is that software still active & if so why ? At one stage Rosslare trains operated on an express schedule from Bray to Connolly & v.v. - hence the level crossings were called earlier to avoid signal checks. Nowadays Rosslare trains just crawl along at 20mph (or less) behind DART.
@ggp5fhwqfr@IrishRail Why is the Portmarnock stop not removed in these circumstances given that there is a DART before and after and almost nobody will be able to get on in any case. Getting off would be somewhat of a challenge also.
@IrishRail Looking back over the last two weeks there have been multiple service suspensions in the Dalkey/Glenageary area due to issues with the overhead power lines. The latest 3 day closure might have been an opportunity to address the root cause ?
@Toibin1 The climate change act & the A5 are not incompatible. I take it you don't support the climate change act ? While making the A5 safe for motorists is urgent the rail connection from Dublin to the North West (via Portadown) needs to be accelerated to give a complete solution.
@Choppersquad3@Alan__Shatter Not in International law anymore than Russia can legally annex part or all of Ukraine or the Americans can take Canada, Greenland, Cuba or Venezuela.
@Amy08833102@IrishRail The express services to Dublin are cancelled all weekend although there are limited bus replacements. The stopping commuter services are running (with a few extra trains) but commuter trains which would normally run to Dundalk terminate at Drogheda with onward bus connections.
@brianymoran@UnityakaAontu Huge uplift in recycling, up to 91%. By all means address any undesirable unintended side effects. But overall a huge success.
@Seanie1kavanagh@IrishRail@philipoakley Demand exceeds what the system can handle without more carriages & more tracks. If trains were faster (made less stops, endured less congestion) the carriages could be used way more efficiently. The existing DART service results in smaller trains at peak, a choice by @TFIupdates.
@briantwomey4@spaceman_83@IrishRail I am not sure that is the case - there would be more using early morning trains certainly but across the entire day, weekends, especially bank holiday weekends would be significantly busier. Not convinced either that the work being undertaken requires a total shutdown for 3 days.
@Choppersquad3@Alan__Shatter Israel certainly wants to exist and is entitled to do so in peace within its legally established borders. What it is not entitled to do is to casually destroy everything around it and force millions of people from their homes and lands.
@thornton_gavin@IrishRail No there are about 30 cancellations today and Monday and 14 tomorrow. Only the stopping commuter services towards Dublin are operating with a skeleton part bus substation towards Belfast.
