🚨JUST IN: Vitalik Buterin unveils Ethereum's next era as a "cryptographic world computer."

The Ethereum co-founder says the network is "really not just a blockchain anymore," but a system combining blockchains with modern cryptography to be cheaper, faster and more private.

He says next year's Hegota upgrade is likely Ethereum's last "normal" one, with everything after focused on zero-knowledge proofs and quantum safety.

By 2030, he expects transactions to finalize in as little as 8 seconds, down from around 200 seconds in 2015.

🚨HUGE: Bitcoin could get Zcash-style PRIVATE transfers without a soft fork, a new paper proposes.

"Shielded Bitcoin" is a new protocol that would hide the amount, sender and receiver of each transfer directly on Bitcoin, while zero-knowledge proofs keep every transfer verifiable.

The whitepaper says Bitcoin's transaction history is permanently public, and chain analysis can often link addresses to their owners.

🚨HUGE: Bitcoin's Lightning Network gets its FIRST quantum-proof defense.

East Texas A&M University researchers built PQLN, which stops attackers from recording Lightning payments today and decrypting them once quantum computers arrive.

The fix works without changing Bitcoin itself and runs alongside existing nodes across a network of 33,000 channels holding 3,750 BTC.

The cost is 10x more bandwidth while NIST plans to ban elliptic-curve cryptography after 2035.

In 2020, GitHub archived Bitcoin's entire codebase onto 186 reels of archival film and deposited them in a decommissioned coal mine beneath the permafrost in Svalbard, Norway.

The archive holds 21 terabytes of open-source code including Bitcoin, Linux and Python.

BREAKING: U.S and China “almost started a war” over a false intelligence report made from AI, per CNN.

The U.S. military was reportedly preparing to board a Chinese vessel in the Middle East after an intelligence report claimed it was carrying components linked to a nuclear weapons program.

Officials halted the operation just in time after discovering the report was generated with AI and contained false, baseless claims about the ship’s cargo.

The incident reportedly came close to triggering a confrontation with China, as U.S. troops were already preparing to board and military aircraft were in the air.
