Update on #BalveerSingh case:
Two years since the #CustodialTorture, where IPS officer Balveer Singh and team allegedly removed suspects’ teeth, the four CB-CID cases are yet to enter trial. The first hearing was on Dec 13, 2023. Singh has skipped 10 of 19 hearings.

IAS officer P Amudha’s interim report confirmed the brutality at Kallidaikurichi, Ambasamudram & Vikramasingapuram stations. CCTV showed victims entering unhurt, exiting with swollen faces and missing teeth.

Singh was suspended after public outcry but reinstated in Dec 2023. As per Civil List, he now serves as ASP, TN Special Police VIII Battalion, deployed at Tihar jail.

TIRUNELVELI: Former sub-inspector of Seevalaperi police station was fined Rs 50,000 by the State Human Rights Commission for brutally attacking a man with a lathi and stick on his thighs, buttocks and palms after stripping him in 2019.
