ऑटो चालक मोहम्मद सलाहुद्दीन कुरैशी पर कथित तौर पर दाढ़ी-टोपी देखकर हमला करने का आरोप है। बताया जा रहा है कि रास्ता पीछे करने के दौरान बाइक हटाने को कहने पर विवाद हुआ, जिसके बाद कई लोगों ने उन्हें घेरकर पीटा।

आरोप है कि हमलावरों ने उनकी दाढ़ी खींची, “जय श्री राम” बोलने के लिए मजबूर किया, “अपने अल्लाह को बुलाओ” कहकर ताना मारा और ऑटो में तोड़फोड़ की।

मामला थाने पहुंचा तो एक प्रत्यक्षदर्शी वीडियो लेकर पहुंचा। आरोप है कि वीडियो देखने के बावजूद SI सचिन वर्मा ने पीड़ित का बयान दर्ज नहीं किया और अपनी रिपोर्ट बनाकर हस्ताक्षर करा लिए।

अगर ये आरोप सही हैं, तो पुलिस की भूमिका पर गंभीर सवाल खड़े होते हैं।

India has seen multiple alarming cases involving fake and spurious medicines this September:

📌 September 4: A counterfeit Abhayrab rabies vaccine racket was uncovered in Delhi, with fake vaccine vials seized and four people arrested.

📌 September 11–13: In Bengaluru, Karnataka SIT investigated a suspected fake medicine racket involving counterfeit cancer and ICU medicines, allegedly supplied to more than 90 hospitals and clinics. Raids were conducted across six states and a pharmacy owner was arrested.

We were already worried about adulterated food, and now we have to worry about fake medicines too.

The irony is that you first get sick from adulterated food and then end up taking fake medicines when you go for treatment.

I feel sad for Umar as he continues to remain in jail.

Nearly six years of his youth have been taken away while he remains in custody, with his trial yet to begin.

I watched Umar’s speeches during the CAA protests, and I never saw him make any provocative speeches. All he ever talked about was Gandhi, the Constitution and the rights guaranteed to every citizen.

If the state genuinely believes that Umar is guilty, then at least start the trial. Present the evidence, let the defence respond, and let the court decide.

Keeping someone behind bars for nearly six years without even starting the trial cannot become a substitute for a verdict.

You may disagree with Umar’s politics, but the right to a fair and timely trial should not depend on whether you agree with the accused.
