Why is the West not curious on the great Indian 🇮🇳 civilization?
This week Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Norway. The government rolled out the red carpet. King Harald invited for lunch. All bigwigs of Norwegian business turned up. This is of course as it should be at such a historic visit.
Rather different was media. No curiosity, no real attempt to understand India. When the third most powerful man in the world visits Norway, you may expect some real interest? An attempt to understand the world’s third largest economy, a global green leader, one of the world’s brightest civilizations??
It’s not that Norway is overrun with visit at this level. Last Indian top visit was Indira Gandhi in 1983. Last Chinese president visit was 1996, last American president was 2009.
Here are some taste bits from Norwegian media:
* Aftenposten the largest newspaper printed a caricature of Modi as a snake charmer, many found it racist and derogatory. The accompanying article (written by an otherwise brilliant journalist) described Modi as a “slightly annoying man” and simply showcased that India is not high on the papers reading lists.
* Norsk rikskringkasting (NRK), the state broadcaster, explained “why prime minister Støre is clearing his desk to receive Modi”. From everyone outside Norway I got exactly the opposite question: Why did Modi use his valuable time in such a small and insignificant place?
* Dagsavisen, a left of center daily, sent a young journalist to throw questions after Modi - claiming that India is 157 on a global democracy ranking. When a ranking is so contrary to common sense - why doesnt she ask those who created the ranking why they spread such nonsense?
I am not aware of one Norwegian journalist closely following India. NOT ONE! How can the public learn more?
Unless you believe democracy only fits a handful of small, homogenous, ultra rich western nations, India is the miracle of democracy. The large, complex, lingustically and religiously diverse nation with many poor people - which has etablished a vibrant democracy and is much less violent than Europe or America.
India can in fact make a claim to be the worlds most homegrown and impressive democracy.
We are entering the Asian century. Unless we Europeans become more curious - to civiliazation, history, politics and economy in the Global South - we will become the big losers of history.

Scary how meticulously planned this operation was. 10 gym owners, including gang leaders Imran and Khaliluddin, befriended 50 Hindu women visiting gyms, recorded videos, blackmailed them, forced them to convert, then sexually exploited them.
They are calling this Gym Jihad.
@DocG2020@BDUTT If the same question to the Male also or for female also ? & what is the assurance of words ? If someone had multiple partners & denied having any , what does it stand for? & even after assurance, if someone still look for partners outside, what you can do ?
@BDUTT If this former Judge has askd her Son, when did he lost his virginity ?How many sexual partners his Son Had ?If her Son had Sex with late Twisha before her marriage ?If She has taken Commitment from her Son that he will sleep with any other women after his wife? #failedjudiciary
Incontrovertible evidence of how Twisha Sharma was abused and maligned by her husband and his mother emerges on tape.
Imagine a mother in law who asks her daughter in law about her sexual history, former partners, accusing her of promiscuity- and comparing her to a prostitute, while, her son, calls his wife a R##ndi . Who made this lady a judge ? I was truly chilled to the bone when I heard this audiotape - where Twisha Sharma’s brother, a serving major in the army confronts his sister's mother in law and takes her on for the constant harassment of Twisha. On April 22nd days before she was tragically found dead in the judge’s home, the family secretly recorded what may now stand as one of the most chilling windows into the cruelty Twisha endured inside her marital home. In the audio, accessed exclusively by Mojo Story, Former Judge, Giribala Singh can be heard brazenly defending her son against the complaint that he called cTwisha a “r*ndi” . She can be heard aggressively saying that it’s her right to know whether her daughter in law has had multiple partners in the past. And then- that oldest trope in the world- she questions her morality, accuses her of promiscuity and invokes parallels with prostitutes ( used in this context as an abuse by her) , language so vile, so dehumanising, it is hard to listen to without outrage.

@PTI_News Judiciary has failed the People of Bharat again & Again,Entire Judicial system is to make Elite comfortable, Safe & equally dangerous for everyone, it’s a Banana Republic, Police Caters to Politicians, Politicians take patronage from Judiciary & Judiciary take advantage of both..
VIDEO | Twisha Sharma Death Case: During a press conference, Twisha Sharma’s brother Major Harshit Sharma says, “We are here to question the process. The first call made to the police was made by us, not by them. They claimed that they were in a hurry trying to save her. However, the video that has resurfaced clearly shows Girbala Singh moving around very calmly, walking up and down the stairs as if she had all the time in the world. Being fully aware of the judicial system, she had complete access and the ability to call the police station, which was only 30 seconds away from her home. Why did she not make that call? It took us more than three days to get the FIR registered. Our FIR was finally lodged on the 15th at 2:30 in the morning. Even before that, their anticipatory bail application had already been filed. It all appears to be a well-orchestrated effort from their side. The fact that she was granted bail on the grounds that she is a 63-year-old woman of repute and considered a non-threat does not justify her actions, which clearly reflect the opposite of how she is being portrayed. A so-called ‘non-threat’ is sending people to threaten my 61-year-old father inside the court premises. A ‘non-threat’ is sending people to threaten my family, saying that 30 men would beat us up. How is a 63-year-old threatening a 61-year-old justified? Who gave her the authority to make such remarks about my deceased sister? Why are we not asking where Samarth Singh is? Why is he absconding? Why are these questions not being asked? Why are they not asking for a second post-mortem?”

@ARanganathan72 When the gavel falls heavily on one tongue for quoting scripture but remains silent on another for calling for eradication, the Supreme Court ceases to be a guardian of secularism and becomes a silent spectator to institutionalized double standards 😬
Supreme court when Nupur Sharma repeats what is written in Islamic scriptures: You have ignited India. You possess a loose tongue. Power has gone to your head. You should apologise.
Supreme court when Udhayanidhi Stalin repeats his call to eradicate Sanatana Dharma: Silence.
Big victory for Prime Minister Modi in India 🇮🇳 state elections. Its time the West appreciates the strength of Indian democracy!
BJP has won a massive victory in state elections in West Bengal and Assam. The turn out was extraordinary high, more than 90%, far above normal participation in European and American elections. With a population of 106 million West Bengal is much larger than any nation in the European Union, so this matters!
The result should give western media a pause. They very often present prime minister Modi as a threat to democracy and his policies as some sort of Hindu extremism. The reality is exactly the opposite. Indian is not only the worlds largest democracy in size - its also one of the most solid in content because its not a western transplant but rooted in Indian traditions and history.
Yesterday’s election produced surprising results in West Bengal and Kerala and a shocking one in Tamil Nadu. Still the losers accept defeat. The turn out is high. There is close to zero violence. Every citizen get the ballot papers - even in the most remote places. The right to free speech is uncontested and Indians use it widely.
When BJP performed below expectations in the 2024 parliament elections, many western media wrote as if it was the beginning of the end for Modiji. Since then the BJP has won state elections in Odisha, Haryana, Delhi, Maharashtra, Bihar - and now Assam and West Bengal. What a revenge!
At a time when democracy is threatened in the US and European democracies struggle to deliver, we should look to India for inspiration not fear!
The Lotus blooms in West Bengal!
The 2026 West Bengal Assembly Elections will be remembered forever. People's power has prevailed and BJP's politics of good governance has triumphed. I bow to each and every person of West Bengal.
The people have given a spectacular mandate to BJP and I assure them that our Party will do everything possible to fulfil the dreams and aspirations of the people of West Bengal. We will provide a Government that ensures opportunity and dignity to all sections of society.
