One of the things that I learned when I had to work with archives is ask what it means to bear witness to the lives of those who are frozen in time in an archive. So to animate them using AI is so profoundly grotesque that I am left utterly baffled by this.
Digger is an amazing film. Don’t worry about reviews, just go watch it. Very high level film making. My friend Cosmo Sheldrake’s score is also top notch.
I will say that I think I understand why many people don’t like it, but I can’t talk about that in detail without spoiling it.
Their grievances are totally legitimate and understandable, but I think the film is still very much worth watching if you love the craft of film making.
The set design alone makes it worthwhile. It is at minimum a visual feast. Undeniably ambitious. Perhaps not for everyone, but what would you rather watch another f-ing super hero movie?

All of these are very obviously the students postponing/avoiding the work by acting stupid/confused so they can talk to their friends instead, a technique which has been done since forever and works because every teacher thinks the generation they're teaching is uniquely doomed
