This is hugely disappointing for a program in which I have guest taught, should concern people of all political views, and remind us that donors are welcome to patronize academic life without dictating content. @beverlygage is a hero. https://t.co/fDjDlqGHM2
Frustrating to see the liberal government promise universal pharmacare year after year and not follow up. I wonder what years could be applied to make actual change #hst440
"We must not accept the excuse that pharmacare is only within provincial jurisdiction. The Liberals plan to lead a national daycare program, traditionally a provincial issue. The case for federal leadership on pharmacare is even stronger." 🙏@HasanMSheikh
Since starting #hst440 with @DrNancyOlivieri , I have become more aware of DTCA in the content I’m consuming. Not only is the representation of people with chronic issues in advertisements unrealistic, but it is manipulative, creates false hope, and is generally unkind.
Every person and profession has inherent biases. However, when the biases of health professionals interfere with the wellbeing and health of the consumer, the power dynamics between patient and doctors becomes troubling- need this be worsened by DTCA? #hst440
This is a post only to article *supporting* direct-to-consumer-advertising (DTCA) of #drugs. It's unsurprisingly supportive b/c it's co-authored by VP of #marketing at...@Merck.

The theme of public officials, policy makers, and researchers being influenced by big pharma’s pandering continues. Disappointed, but not surprised #hst440
.@RepKathleenRice promised to take on Big Pharma greed.
Then she turned around and started doing the industry's bidding.
Did the $84,000 she accepted from Big Pharma have anything to do with it? Who knows?
"Rarely has so significant a faction in American politics behaved in a way that so directly claims the life of its own supporters," @conor64 writes: https://t.co/IjjSgjynof
“If people want to run a business for #profit, they can run […] a hotel or a fast-food franchise, not provide services to the most vulnerable and weakest members of our society.”

What in the absolute hell.
Here’s @RepKathleenRice’s explanation for sabotaging a bill that would let Medicare negotiate drug prices.
It’s essentially: “I blocked a bill I agree with that would save the government money because I’m fiscally responsible.”
This is incoherent.
We must break the legacy of disrespect towards Indigenous ppl
I'll take real action towards reconciliation, fight to deliver clean drinking water, & provide better access to safe housing & quality education
Better is possible, but you have to vote for it

Where were all voices of support for persons w disabilities when liberal government prioritized access in midst pandemic to state funded & health professions organized ending of life w #Billc7#MAID? Minority gov could've focused on dignity in life. Odd approach to #HumanRights
70% of seniors who have trouble eating because of their teeth haven't gone to a dentist within the last year.
It's appalling that dental care is treated as a luxury. It should be a right.
Call your Senators at 202-509-9128 and urge them to expand Medicare to include dental.
@Public_Citizen The idea that it is an individual’s responsibility to seek out dental care, and not a social responsibility is deeply outdated, but the exclusion of dental coverage from Medicare continues to impact modern Canadians in staggering amounts. #HST440
@thenation Is a government’s stance on health a reflection of politics, or are politics a reflection of health and the economy that surrounds it? #HST440
This is pretty infuriating: top Democrats blocked AOC from the House Energy and Commerce Committee in favor of centrist Kathleen Rice, who voted with Big Pharma instead. https://t.co/ISG9qTZlL4
