The belief that man is inherently good has led to the cultural decay on display with the jurors of the Lindsay Clancy trial. If man is inherently good, then only monsters kill, and Lindsay just "can't be a monster" in their minds. In reality, man is inherently evil and in need of salvation.

I spent a week in the inner city of New York and came back with a newfound appreciation for grass. For clean restrooms. For private transportation. For quiet. For wide open Texas spaces. For the sounds of whip-poor-wills and owls at night. For a state that doesn’t reek of weed at every turn.

I also came back with a newfound understanding of my faith in light of the thousands of Hindus and Muslims immigrating here. I had the privilege of teaching English to Bangladeshi Muslim women and found them to be the sweetest, most eager, kind souls. I walked around Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn and saw American flags and America 250 decorations at every turn.

Here’s what I know: I’m not a city girl. But I don’t believe the media narrative that we’re told anymore. New York isn’t for me, but it’s the dream for many who come here because they love this country and what it stands for. So many who come here the right way truly make this country better, and for that, I am thankful.

God bless America. God bless New York. And indeed, God Bless Texas!

Long ago I was asked if I would stop my criticisms of The Passion Translation if they changed the name to reflect that it isn’t really a translation.

I said no. But I might be willing to reconsider that.

If they named it after the author we could have a deal. Allow me to suggest that they name it after Brian Simmons to correctly distinguish that it’s his product and not the result of translating. This could communicate the value of the work well and avoid the confusion Brian has so far created.

I hereby suggest “The BS Version” as a working and accurate title.

We know that she is in the presence of Jesus, reunited with Marcus, and receiving her reward for a beautiful life lived in surrender to the Lord.

There is an obsession with platforming those with a radical testimony in the Church. We love the idea of pointing and shouting, “See? See? Look what God does!”

The issue is not that God doesn’t radically change lives. The issue isn’t that testimonies shouldn’t be celebrated.

The issue is that the perceived freedom is often elevated over the One who sets free. The celebrity is higher than God. We don’t want God in this culture, we want His benefits.

A story like Neeza’s is a testament to that end. Whether he’s a grifter who never converted to begin with or he’s a truly troubled man who is living out his wandering path for all the world to watch is irrelevant. Because either way, we’ve once again platformed the convert over the Converter. We’ll keep seeking the benefits over the Benefactor. We’ll keep living out this Prosperity Gospel lie, leading people straight to Hell when this false god of ours keeps disappointing us.

I couldn’t agree more. Trump is many things. A biblical scholar is not one of them. I pray for his soul and I am sorry he posted such blasphemy.

I pray more that true Christians will surround him — not Paula Barbie Doll White and her ilk of pseudo Christians.

It seems plausible that Trump posted that image thinking it was him portrayed as a doctor. Or even as some sort of spiritual healer but not knowing how strongly it implied he was Jesus.

It doesn’t take away from the blasphemous nature of the image. And I don’t say this to say, “Nothing to see here folks.”

Why is it plausible?

Because I think Trump has a shallow understanding of Christianity. Remember when he said “Two Corinthians” instead of “Second Corinthians” when citing his favorite verse? As I recall it was prior to this that Trump was asked for a favorite verse and didn’t have one to state off the top of his head. Then, it seems to me, this was embarrassing and he tried to rectify it when someone sent him a verse and he later read it off as written and was so unfamiliar with Scripture that he didn’t know we say “second” instead of “two.” Now, some scholars will say “two” instead of “second” when reading such texts but it’s very uncommon and I doubt Trump was doing so because he was approaching it from a biblical scholarship perspective.

My point is that he could easily not know that the imagery there was clearly consistent with hundreds of years of depictions of Jesus.

Maybe I’m wrong and he meant to imply he was Jesus but it seems unlikely. It’s still evil and a reminder of what Nebuchadnezzar said right before he started eating grass. But it was likely ignorance and ego but not an intentional blasphemy.

I wonder if Paula White sent it to him. I wouldn’t put such intentional blasphemy past her.
