The EPR Paradox and Bell's Theorem:
The EPR paradox, proposed by Einstein, Podolsky, and Rosen, argued that quantum mechanics must be incomplete because it allows for "spooky action at a distance" (i.e., quantum entanglement).
However, Bell's theorem showed that any hidden variables theory satisfying certain assumptions (like locality and realism) would conflict with quantum mechanics. Experiments have supported the predictions of quantum mechanics and against those of local hidden variable theories, though the debate continues.
This is a 3200-year old attendance sheet found in Deir el-Medina, Egypt. Reasons for worker absence include "embalming brother", "brewing beer" and "bitten by scorpion".
Olive Tree of Vouves; Crete.
Tree has a trunk 15ft in diameter, likely 2900 years old, based on graveyard found nearby.
This tree likely lived through writing of Iliad, golden age of Athens, rise of Roman Empire and birth of Christ. It still produces olives.
