So what makes a leadership team meeting (LTM) actually effective—and why are most founders are running theirs wrong?

three key things:

1. Cut the fat and keep it tight at the top

Your leadership team meeting is not an all-hands. It’s for your top 5-10 leaders. More than that? You’re slowing things down. The goal isn’t to inform—it’s to align, problem-solve, and drive accountability.

2. No more “status” meetings—solve real problems

If your LTM is just people giving updates, you’re doing it wrong. Use reports and dashboards for that. The real meeting should focus on high-stakes decisions and blocking issues. What’s stuck? What needs an answer? What’s critical to move the business forward?

3. Decisions need owners. No onwnership = no execution

A meeting where everyone nods but no one actually owns the action is useless. Every discussion should end with:

✅ A clear decision
✅ A single accountable owner
✅ A next step with a deadline

If you’re a founder and your meetings feel like a drag, rethink your approach. Run LTMs that create clarity, rhythm, and momentum—not just more noise.
