@Nbtoma@ItsLulu_7 Here's the direct quote. And I would note if you read carefully it doesn't say that the state or state ownership will disappear, it rather says that state power will no longer act as a political power of class antagonism.
@Nbtoma@ItsLulu_7 Marx made the argument that power only exists because of class and that without class the state will some how magically disappear. Of course they never got past that phase, this is practically unrealistic and doesn't even make sense in the abstract.
@cmkusher Our cities are full of vast areas of detached housing that could be turned into 3-6 story apartments. The problem isn't that we lack space or ability, it's that we lack political will to change our cities in the way that would support 100 million people.
@Rakeshhkumaar There will always be some people who can't provide value to others in trade, but nothing is as effective as capitalism at reducing poverty.
@frollickingmole@jmil400 Bigger cities are more exciting and livable places. A larger Australia is a more geopolitically safe and culturally interesting country. Reducing immigration is a poor trade off. We need to increase construction.
@frollickingmole@jmil400 Yes actually, worse quality of life because of longer commutes and shitty new neighbourhoods with no walkability, more destroyed nature and farmland. No thanks.
@jmil400 Profit seekers are entirely dependant on demand from tenants, they don't create demand themselves they are a middle man representing tenant demand. This will reduce new supply of rentals, increasing rents. While doing nothing to address the actual issue blocking supply, NIMBYism.
@frollickingmole@jmil400 The desired product is scarce because of NIMBYism, not because of 'profit seekers'. Profit seekers are entirely dependant on demand from tenants, they don't create demand themselves they are a middle man representing tenant demand.
@ItsLulu_7 A bullshit argument In these cases, labor has zero value without the resources and investment the organisation has made. Just ask yourself can one person do the work without the infrastructure they are provided, that investors paid for.
