@Humdinger12345@Trivium21c@JuliaHB1 If you don't cherry pick it becomes clearer that he's NOT subject to the same commitment to impartiality on SM as news presenters or, say, BbBC chairmen. So you wouldn't expect the BBC chairman to be a Β£400,000 donor to the Tories, yet here we are.
@JuliaHB1 Yes because the poor right wing never have anyone shouting on their behalf do they? Except the majority of the British press. But then why ARE you so keen to defend rhetoric that actually is the same as that of 30s Germany? Or are you pretending to be that ignorant of history?
@thecarolemalone You'll be wanting Richard Sharp out of the chair then, eh? Β£400,000 given to the Tories undermines the BBC's impartiality FAR more than an entirely historically accurate historical analogy (NOT using the BBC as a platform but in independent capacity'), doesn't it?
@thecarolemalone If he'd have spoken in support of Tory rhetoric none of this would have happened even though he would have been no more impartial. On that basis your argument is nonsense.
@JuliaHB1@GaryLineker That cuts both ways though, doesn't it? If he had spoken out in support of Tory rhetoric none of this would have happened but he would have been no more impartial.
@oggisports1 @andrewhunterm@greyhairGuy On the face of it he was expressing an (historically accurate) opinion in a personal capacity. He wasn't speaking for anyone else, or claiming to. Just another case of "Stay out of politics, unless they're mine." Or, more to the point, BBC chairman/big Tory donor Richard Sharp's.
@JuliaHB1 @startimeash @GaryLineker Right. And if he'd spoken out in support of Tory policy he'd have been sacked? No, of course not. If the BBC is to be impartial then having a huge Tory donor as chairman is 100% unacceptable. As always: "Stay out of politics, unless they're the same as mine".
@bbcquestiontime If only Tory Fiona Bruce's lack of impartiality were a one off, as she dismissed Stanley Johnson's assault on his wife being. Shame on Refuge for still having anything to do with her, let alone retaining her as ambassador.
@RefugeCharity@bbcquestiontime She trivialised domestic violence, there is nothing else to it. I don't see how you can remain associated with her in any way let alone retain her as an ambassador. That she makes excuses for herself is predictable. That you make excuses for her is unacceptable.
@GaryLineker@BBCMOTD When the BBC get rid of Boris's mate the chairman and the Tory mouthpieces on BBC News they can start bleating about impartiality. If it looks like a goose and sounds like a goose and steps like a goose...
@GaryLineker Isn't it funny how people only say "stay out of politics" to those they disagree with? When the Daily Mailers tell Tory-supporting public figures to shut up, they might have credibility (Only not really).
@Amazingdave8@BigWoodenSpoon@AngelaRayner Bingo. Vote for stated policies and the party you disagree with least. End your support at the ballot box and if the party you vote for get in, be the first one to shout when they break promises. If everyone did this the country would be far better off. Party loyalty is for mugs.
We have a couple of announcements incoming but Monday night we are at @nevolumebar supporting Over the Under with @NationInRuin. Get down for a night of Polish and North East metal!
Give us a shout to get on the guest list or grab your tickets at https://t.co/VIhrU9XOgN
@gavinesler They know younger people are less likely to vote Con so they want to restrict it to the Daily Mail generation. Simple, transparent and blatantly corrupt. Just the way Tory voters like it.
Join us in Stockton on Monday for this metal special featuring Polish outfit Over The Under and local bands Mortal Chains and Nation In Ruin. Over the Under have the world record for continuous concerts, having played 100 gigs in 100 days. Info: https://t.co/5tFbPxXjoe
@lucyycheyne The VIP thing doesn't bother me, you can always opt not to do that. What gets me is huge bands with tons of money behind them charging a fortune for gig tickets knowing they'll automatically fill arenas, while smaller bands who need money just to keep active play for nearly nowt.
