One of the WORST calls in modern World Cup history! Senegal was ROBBED today by a corrupt, dirty referee and FIFA. African & Asian teams have ZERO chance with this level of disgusting corruption. Shame on you!
Senegal defender is looking opposite direction and is closest to the ball and is going to play ball.
Belgium player jumps in front from behind, stops defender from playing the ball.
If anything, this is a free kick for Senegal. 🇸🇳
Unreal decision.
Qué fácil es pitar un penalti en el minuto 120 en contra de una selección africana en favor de una europea! Qué vergüenza! Qué asco da la FIFA!! Todo mi apoyo y respeto para Senegal!
🚨 Pep Guardiola on Belgium’s late penalty:
🗣️ Reporter:
“What did you make of the penalty?”
🗣️ Pep Guardiola:
“I always say football should be decided by football. Senegal had defended with incredible discipline for almost the entire match. To see such a soft contact become the defining moment is very difficult for everyone to understand.”
“If the contact is not absolutely clear, I don’t think you decide a World Cup knockout match with a penalty in the final moments. Let the players decide it themselves.”
“Senegal earned the right to keep fighting. Belgium earned the right to keep attacking. In games like this, I prefer the result to come from the quality of the football, not from one controversial decision.”
“When two teams have sacrificed so much, one whistle should never become bigger than everything that happened over ninety minutes.”
“Of course the referee has to make decisions, and I respect that. But these are the moments that leave people talking about officiating instead of the football. Nobody wants that.”
“If you cannot say with complete certainty that it is a penalty, then don’t give it. At this level, every decision carries enormous consequences.

🚨 Alan Shearer on the controversial penalty appeal for Youri Tielemans against Senegal:
🗣️ “For me, that’s never a penalty. This is football, it’s a contact sport. If we’re giving penalties for every bit of contact inside the box, we may as well stop defenders from challenging altogether.”
“Camara has every right to go for the ball. There’s contact, yes, but not every contact is a foul. Tielemans goes down, but I don’t see enough there to justify pointing to the spot.”
“At this stage of the World Cup, you cannot decide a knockout match with a soft penalty. The referee has to be absolutely certain, and I don’t think there’s anywhere near enough in that challenge.”
“If that gets given, then Senegal are the ones being robbed. They’ve defended brilliantly, worked incredibly hard and you can’t take all of that away because of a decision like this.”
“I actually like that the referee waved play on. Football is becoming too soft. Players are looking for the slightest touch instead of trying to stay on their feet and finish the move.”
“VAR has to protect the game, not create controversy. For me, this is not a clear and obvious error. It’s a coming together, nothing more.”
“Belgium will be frustrated, but if they want to win this match, they have to create better chances than relying on a penalty shout like that.”
