It’s gonna be so so hard picking a favorite by the souls game by the end. Dark Souls 1 is so special, Elden Ring is so grand and epic, and Bloodborne just kind of does everything right. I’ve got DS3, Sekiro, and possibly Deracine left. Woof
Finished Bloodborne for the first time. First ever Fromsoft game I played back in high school and gave up at Father Gascoigne. By NG+ 2 I could beat him in less than 2 mins. So proud of myself 🥹
Unfortunately Returnal :( definitely not a bad game, I’d say it’s great even. But as someone who loved roguelikes, the runs started to feel so similar really early on. Made replaying it towards the end feel really tedious
Ds1 fans: NGL, the first half of the game was great. I didnt care for the last half.
Ds3 fans: It is a boss run game, but thats why i love it
ER fans: NGL, they coded Malenia to cheat and PCR was just insanity
Ds2 fans: the game is perfect in every way, skill issue. time issue.
Takes like these and that of other video essays Ive watched I found to be a little disingenuous when it comes to addressing ppl’s gripes w the game. Like yes, imo this runback is rlly not bad and smelter demon is easy but u can see why ppl find it hard right?
No hate to the guy cuz I’ve really liked watching him play ds1 and ds2 for the first time I am. But when ppl pretend like absolutely nothing is wrong with the game and explain “well actually this part that fucking sucks is actually peak design” like bruh
Tldr I think it’s good to point out where haters are wrong or overreacting, but at the same time pretending like the game has no flaws and is 100% peak seems dishonest (again not saying this guy in particular is doing all that, just made me think of it)
Ds2 haters are also annoying, honestly still moreso, cuz they just do the opposite but worse. Like this game does so much right, it’s lowkey a toss up for me if I like 1 or 2 more rn. But the game’s lows can be so fucking low lol, and that’s ok!
