Okay but she’s clearly talking about the culture around the corporate job? Like those are the things that stand in contrast with WFH or working service / retail. The actual meat of the work isn’t the thing she’s talking about here.
“Morning commutes” isn’t just “going outside”, it’s knowing your hours every day and having them be regular. If you’re coming from say, working in a pub, where you don’t start work until 5pm sometimes, or the days and hours change a lot, that certainty can be really refreshing.
people missing the point on this. he's right! not specifically club penguin that needs to come back, but there are simply not safe, fun and moderated spaces specifically just for kids online now. kids are pushed towards tiktok etc because where the fuck else are they meant to go
@thegenesisbl0ck i read the "don't do it" in the first one to mean "don't stay childfree" as a response to the original text, but the other ones... wow
I was a waitress in a high end restaurant for 2 years and never once did I get shit for not wearing makeup.
Most of my colleagues did choose to have a full face every day, and spend time doing fancy up-dos. But not all of them. There were male waiters I can best describe as metrosexuals who would come in every day with a new fancy cologne. There were BACK OF HOUSE workers who never saw customers who came in with a full face every day. They had no obligation to.
I would occasionally put concealer on my forehead if I had particularly bad scabs that day, but even then I could show up and do a full two hours of my shift before putting it on during my break. Nobody said shit.
Plenty of women like to martyr themselves and pretend they just have to spend all this extra time before work painting their faces and doing their hair. But you can just not.
just saw a tweet that said "a tan is skin damage! it's not protective!"
i know i'm from essex so... y'know. but like i was reminded of reading pride and prejudice in year 10 and everyone being confused why caroline was insulting lizzie for being tan.

@MauMaukita like i take care of an allotment. i've grown blackberries, raspberries, strawberries etc. if it's on my plot it's fine. radom raspberries growing on the side of the path near my house? DANGER
closest thing i had to this was being Very Afraid going brambling as a kid with my mother, because we were constantly getting told at school "DON'T PICK THE BERRIES THAT GROW THROUGH THE FENCE!!! YOU'LL DIE!!!!"
now i don't know what actually grew on the school grounds - i'm fairly certain they were harmless and teachers just didn't want us sticking our hands into the bushes. but it did stick in my brain such that i now treat all berries growing wild in my mind the way you're supposed to treat random mushrooms growing in the forrest. i.e i assume they'll kill me unless i know exactly what it is.
