Every single plot point in Alien: Earth is built on characters making stupid choices, often while in circumstances that even the tiniest bit of security, oversight and communication would avoid. It's the worst kind of lazy writing.
Alien:Earth - What a waste of time
Self-proclaimed genius - acts like a retard
Self-destructing elevators?
Alien is pet dog? Now has a puppy?
Personal note the lead actresses bangs are horrible
The future truly is Idiocracy. It's populated by idiots.
Alien earth has been such a let down, I only like morrow and kirsh and hate every other character and the decisions they make/lines they say make no sense at all. AND ALL THE JUMP CUTS DURING ACTION SCENES?? so freakin underwhelming and BORING.
Series has nothing on Romulus
As if Iryna Zarutska being slaughtered in front of no fewer than five witnesses who turn away and leave her to bleed out wasn't disturbing enough, it appears the only man with any sense of humanity was also the person who made the initial 911 call to police—FIVE MINUTES after the attack—delayed only by the amount of blood he had to wipe off his phone. This is all made worse knowing the entire time there were two Charlotte transit security guards in the next train car, yet in the 7 1/2 minutes from the attack to the video's end, none appear on scene.
There's no timestamp on the video, but this is an approximate timeline using runtime calculations, court documents and reports:
9:5O - killer opens knife, stands; stabs Iryna
9:52-9:53 - train stops; killer exits; passengers exit and board; man enters, attempts to render aid; removes phone from back pocket and slips from hand
9:54-9:55 - man continues aid; multiple attempts to use phone; wipes blood off screen; connects to 911; puts phone back in pocket; continues aid
9:57 - [video ends]
10:00 - police arrive at platform
10:05 - Iryna pronounced dead on train
I pray this good man is getting adequate support because the average person isn't going to have an easy time recovering from something like that.
Imagine stumbling upon such a gruesome scene, yet without hesitation desperately try to save a woman's life whilst you both soak in her blood as she lies dying. Then later, once the adrenaline wanes, realizing the unconscionable detail which was immediately apparent to those who watched it from a bird's-eye advantage: That in those few long minutes of abject horror, no one else among your fellow citizens thought to help her.
Utterly tragic. And so easily preventable.
