角度に ω·t（角速度と時間） を足して回転する球、その粒子の速度ベクトルを長い光の筋として描き、色は時間とともに変化させます。

　球を軸まわりに回すと、各粒子の速さは ω × R cos(緯度)、つまり軸からの距離に比例します。だから赤道の粒子がいちばん速くて筋が長く、極に近づくほど筋は短くなり、極点では止まる

　ここで効いているのは、「角速度」と「速さ（線速度）」は別物という点です。剛体として回る球では、角速度 ω はどの粒子も完全に同じ ── 赤道の粒子も極のそばの粒子も、まったく同じ時間で一周します。周期は全員いっしょなんです。ところが一周で進む距離は、軸から遠い粒子ほど大きい円を描くぶん長くなる。同じ時間で長い距離を行くのだから、当然そちらが速い。これが ω × R cos(緯度) の正体です。

　位置の均等さ（フィボナッチ配置で表面にまんべんなく散らした）と、運動の均等さ（速さがそろっているか）は、まったく独立しています。位置をどう配ろうと、回転軸からの距離が速さを決めてしまうので、赤道が速くなるのは避けられない ── 配置の問題ではなく、回転という運動そのものの性質なんですね。

　なんとも味わい深いですね。
