If you had 1 month to train like a pro runner, what do you do?
For many athletes, that month would be best served with a "trial of miles." But if you want to use the time to get stronger than ever for immediate goals, this is the plan for you ⬇️

@stephensmithPN The applied nutrition information from the cycling peloton is the most interesting real-world data we have! So I'd love a bit of everything :) You are a boss!
We give our full "no secrets" thoughts this week on the major news:
-sub-2 hour marathon fueling
-why people are overlooking the impact of bicarb
-supershoe evolution
-red button v. blue button, and how that might relate to marathon world records 🤷♂️

How can you prepare for the extreme muscular demands of longer events?
Our theory: strategic use of downhill running causes eccentric muscle contractions that act as a shortcut to muscular resilience and strength
Thanks Tim! I was in Boston for coaching, and every pro athlete had tons of bottles for Bottle Drop (most for every 5k), many with a gel taped to the bottle too if they weren't just doing Maurten drink mix (which is the most popular option). Everyone I talked to in the top 20 was doing higher carb 🙏
Observations from training practices in earlier times are not really relevant anymore. Carbs are why the game has changed in how athletes race marathons and recover from them.
I totally acknowledge that it's not high carb on every single run for these athletes (nor should it be). But it is high carb in every single race.

@brittanybussemd This is the best news!! Thank you so much for sharing. Carbs drive health in endurance training, and health is everything for performance!
Not sure how I missed this video by Cody Bare about @mountainroche triumph at Leadville 100m #LD100 last year, but that’s a great one to kick off the heart of the #ultra season.
