Climate change impacts access to adequate housing, especially for people living in informal settlements.

As a part of the #HomeEquals campaign, Habitat Jordan is working to increase the climate resilience of homes for vulnerable refugee populations.

In partnership with the #JordanValleyAuthority and #MinistryofWater, #HabitatForHumanity will implement a project to maintain the pedestrian bridge over the #KingAbdullah #Canal in the #DeirAlla area and to prepare the entrances around the canal to ensure easy #access for #PWD.

The bridge is considered the main entrance to the area, and there are three schools surrounding the canal. There have been many accidents on the bridge caused by the students' crowding, some of which have resulted in drownings.

It is estimated that 30% of #Jordanians and 48% of #SyrianRefugees lack #AffordableHousing, with more than 30% of #householdIncome spent on #housing in #Jordan. #HabitatforHumanity #HomeEquals

#Didyouknow that #Jordan's population is currently more than 11 million people, almost a third of whom are #refugees, predominantly from #Syria and #Palestine, with significant numbers from #Iraq and #Yemen as well.

During a visit to "Beit Idis” in Irbid to stress the significance of such partnerships to support local communities.
Since 2017, 9 new homes were built, 16 were rehabilitated, 457 were repaired, besides digging 100 water wells to harvest rain water. #habitatforhumanityjordan_
