Husband & small biz owner. Advocate for getting healthier, not more medicated (but I'm not anti-drug). I appreciate respectful dialogue & informed debate.
It’s International Bike Day! I do enjoy riding my bike, the sense of freedom and connection with community on my commutes. And bike commuting in Vancouver is often faster than driving and always faster than transit for me.
I'm prepared to go to jail over this.
My grandmother Rita Pete went to St. Mary's Indian Residential School. She experienced terrible abuse. As a consequence, she struggled with alcohol use most of her life.
My mother was born with FASD as a consequence of her using alcohol to cope with her trauma.
I am Chief of my community Chawathil First Nation. I am working to address the longstanding impacts of these past policies through renovating homes, building new homes, creating childcare, and growing businesses through economic development.
I have interviewed people who went to Indian Residential Schools. I have interviewed people who believe Indian Residential Schools were awful, horrible schools, meant to remove the Indian from the child.
I've also interviewed people who believe they were well intended, generous investments by Canadian taxpayers meant to assimilate a society and had shortcomings.
Like with many things, the history is dark, complicated, and with any policy that existed for a long time, across a whole country - there were different experiences.
No one story tells us everything. No report shares the full experience of the individuals who went. No commentator today can disprove someone's lived experience with statistics.
The path forward is not to criminalize speech, questions, or debate.
The path forward is empathy for past attendees.
The path forward is truth based on facts.
The path forward is real conversations.
The path forward is to lean into complexity.
If the government criminalizes this, then I will be a criminal for having these conversations.
If I am a criminal by the laws definition, then I am committed to going to jail over this.

Why I Train This Way at 62
1/ I’ve been an orthopedic surgeon for nearly 30 years, and over that time, I’ve watched something happen to many of my patients that isn’t dramatic or sudden, but ends up being far more consequential than any single injury or diagnosis.

Good Friday - only so because of the miracle that follows on Sunday. If the Resurrection is true, the life of Jesus, which divides western time into before and after, is more important than anything else. #GoodFriday

This year, Good Friday falls on April 3 and according to a number of biblical scholars, historians, astronomers, and experts, this date closely matches the most probable day of our Lord’s crucifixion nearly 2,000 years ago.
Many researchers point to Friday, April 3, AD 33 as the day Jesus was crucified. This conclusion comes from carefully combining:
- The Gospel accounts (Jesus died on the “day of Preparation,” a Friday, during Passover season)
- The Jewish calendar and the date of Passover (Nisan 14/15)
- Astronomical data showing when a Friday coincided with Passover in the early 30s AD
- Historical context from the reign of Pontius Pilate and the timeline of Jesus’ ministry
Some studies even note a possible lunar eclipse on that date, which may connect to the biblical description of darkness covering the land and “the moon turning to blood.”
Around 3:00 PM that afternoon, Jesus cried out, “It is finished,” bowed His head, and gave up His spirit, the moment the world was redeemed.
While scholars continue to debate between AD 30 and AD 33 (both have strong supporters), April 3, AD 33 remains one of the strongest and most widely discussed candidates for the exact historical date.
Today, as we enter the Holy Week, we remember not just a date on the calendar, but the greatest act of love in human history.
How are you observing Good Friday this year?
Are you attending the Veneration of the Cross, the Stations, or spending quiet time in prayer?
May the sacrifice of Jesus bring you peace, hope, and the assurance of His infinite mercy🇻🇦
@Tim54242076@joeroganhq@grok was there recently a young person rejected for MAID in Ontario, who subsequently received MAID in BC with a UBC professor part of the process?
