Here's the link to my resources from our #macul23 presentation. @CDRodeffer and I talked about non-digital game design projects for deeper learning. We gave them a simple, original game that students build from.

Just realized I haven't posted in ages. My job changed again. I'm now doing K-8 math coaching. I've been enjoying it. Learning a lot. Haven't had as much to share as I'm getting started.
@dylanwiliam Your point is well taken, but we could be measuring the wrong thing, but still find the system effectively and efficiently generates it. If we don’t consider what’s being measured and whether it should be, does effective and efficient matter?
"when teachers direct student learning, students are slightly more likely to be successful in solving the easiest mathematics problems in PISA. Yet as the problems become more difficult, students with more exposure to direct instruction no longer have a better chance of success."
20) The key to success that I taught my students on the first day of school still pays off: Always do your best at what’s most important, whether you feel like it or not.
I just finished my 30th year in education. I’ll share 20 things I know about teaching and leading.
Background: HS math teacher for 14 years, then instructional tech K-12 for 14 years. Now a K-12 instructional coach. I'll always be the one steering the focus back to learning.
19) Everything works somewhere, but nothing works everywhere. Hattie tells us that. And what works sometimes won’t work all the time. Be open minded with favorite methods, lessons that flop, and easy answers we learn at conferences. Invest in what works best most of the time.
