In the months past, the New Vision would never admit, let alone publish that Anita Among had blocked the NUP, FDC, and other independent candidates from running against her. Instead, they praised her and always found reason to defend her and the EC in these schemes. Now, they can even interview those blocked women and make it a front page story. Indeed, power is transient, and when it moves, it moves. I hope those who wield and abuse power today have picked some lessons!
Seeing LOP Joel Ssenyonyi yesterday on floor going even emotional trying to tell the other side that what yr doing is wrong.
Reminded me of the time Winnie kizza as by then the LOP also going emotional trying to show the other side that what your doing is wrong during the age limit bill.
Time reached when they have spoken all the English, they have quoted all the laws when the only option left is to plead to them not to throw the country in hole. But when they don't listen.
I pray God give you two life. Long lasting life and you witness those NRM MPs each getting affected because of those bills they passed. I pray.
Thank you our dear LOPs.
My cartoons are being exhibited by the Freedom Cartoonists Foundation under the theme of ‘Cartoons for Freedom’ at the shores of Lake Geneva (Quai Wilson) alongside those of Safaa Odah, a Palestinian cartoonist, and of a few others from Europe. If you are there, pass by to check. The Exhibition will last the whole month of May.
This 2km road stretch was constructed by President Gen Amin's government in 1970s between Moyo and Laropi Port in West Nile as a prototype of the kind of road network he envisaged for Uganda.
It has no single crack, pot hole or a sign of getting any. Why doesn't Government of the Republic of Uganda especially ministry of works and Transport study under the microscope the ingredients of this road and use it as a benchmark for all roads in Uganda egos aside.
The problem of Uganda is people like Kiryowa Kiwanuka whom you expect to use their intellect for the betterment of the country.
However they choose to sell their country for selfish interests.
The so called educated people have let down this country.
The respect for Atingi-Ego was already high. That he commits career suicide so that the asinine and parasitic Ugandan state can get its act together, is a matter that only St. Jakaliya Janan Luwum and a few others came close to. We should pray for his life.
Listening to Governor Bank of Uganda talk about the dangers of the proposed SOVEREIGNTY BILL to the economy, IDI AMIN to came to mind! Story is told when Uganda was faced with acute shortage of FOREIGN EXCHANGE, and every time Amin was told they couldn't buy this, or that, because of Foreign Exchange. Amin got so pissed off and told Maliyamungu to go and "ARREST THIS FOREIGN EXCHANGE AND HAVE HIM SHOT IMMEDIATELY"! These Africans think SOVEREIGNITY IS BUILT ON LEGAL DOCUMENTS AND POLITICAL STATEMENTS! Reason African Countries easily COLLAPSE! TRUE INDEPENDENCE/SOVEREIGNTY, is grounded in ECONOMIC AUTONOMY AND FISCAL HEALTH of a Country. Once a Country depends on FOREIGN CAPITAL, it necessarily loses SOVEREIGNTY! SOVEREIGNTY is anchored on capacity to produce and sustain an INDEPENDENT ECONOMY, not PARLIAMENTARY KWALA-KWALA! Seems we haven't learned from mistakes of the past when Kwame Nkrumah declared:"SEEK YE FIRST THE POLITCAL KINGDOM..."; doesn't work that way. It is SEEK YE FIRST THE ECONOMIC KINGDOM, AND ALL ELSE SHALL BE ADDED UNTO YOU"! Use this political independence to build ECONOMIC SOVEREIGNTY; everything then will fall into place.
That is the ugly position the government has put us into. There is a big, big problem, ... “What we are doing today, is what should have been done by government.” said Katuntu.
Katuntu stated that from the moment the Governor started his submission, he was grappling with many questions in his mind as to what is going on in Uganda because the scrutiny of the Bill by Parliament should have been done by the Executive through consulting relevant stakeholders so Government agencies don’t come before Parliament to oppose the same bill.
“What we are doing today, is what should have been done by government. Talking to the central bank, talking to FIA, talking to Makerere University, talking to banks, talking to literally people who should be the stakeholder. But from all of them as they have appeared here, they seem to be so confused about who actually brought this sort of legislation here. That is the ugly position the government has put us into. There is a big, big problem,” said Katuntu.
