@DaltonDEmery @zenahitz@Morgan_Anastasi@leaacta What are you looking to do as a career? I've known some alum who went into tech right after sjc. They have been doing quite well.
@DaltonDEmery @zenahitz@Morgan_Anastasi@leaacta As in, an older student might get more out of it than a younger student. That was my experience. As a senior, I felt like i had finally begun to do what sjc had been expecting of me all along
@DaltonDEmery @zenahitz@Morgan_Anastasi@leaacta Well, it's not restrictive as of yet.
I know a lot of vets who went to the school. They tended to do well. I really do think that being older makes it a bit more valuable.
@DaltonDEmery @zenahitz@Morgan_Anastasi@leaacta And I suspect that both types may like having no internet.
Okay... It has more than those two types, but they make up a sizable portion of the student body. Probably more hippy-esque people than traditionalists. The school has a wide appeal to weirdos.
@DaltonDEmery @zenahitz@Morgan_Anastasi@leaacta My understanding is that St. Thomas Aquinas College in CA, another great books school, has a similar policy. Idk how the students will take it if sjc switches. They may even like it.
Sjc tends to attract two kinds of people, hippies and trads. I don't use either term negatively.
@zenahitz @DaltonDEmery @Morgan_Anastasi@leaacta Do more than that. Remove the electricity. I've been talking to older alumni, and my general sense is that the polity has become worse since the rise of social media. It's doing to us what it is doing to American- making it more difficult to have a conversation. I say in Twitter.
@zenahitz @DaltonDEmery @Morgan_Anastasi@leaacta ... more level headed than the students. And again, this might have just been a "me" problem. I've become a better communicator since then, and more capable at discussing disagreement. But I also became both of those things BECAUSE of sjc. It's really a degree in logos.
@zenahitz @DaltonDEmery @Morgan_Anastasi@leaacta I did have problems with how the school seemed to be falling prey to many of the social justice agendas that other schools are falling into, and I did feel ostracized due to my political beliefs, but that might be happening at every college. And the teachers...
@TylerVigen This is really bad timing. It's the one day of the year where I use your website to teach the false cause fallacy to my high school logic class. Are you sure that my lesson is not the *cause* of your host's upgrade?
@Morgan_Anastasi I wouldn't apologize to employers right off the bat. The fact that you have a degree tends to mean more than what degree you might have.
