Not everything I post on here is party political or related to my role as an elected councillor, but when it is, it's promoted by Winchester Liberal Democrats, Bar End Rd, Winchester SO23 9NP
Iโm incredibly honoured to have been elected as the new Liberal Democrat councillor for Ashton-on-Ribble.
Thank you to everyone who put their faith in me and to every resident who took the time to speak to me on the doorstep over the past few weeks.
Brilliant conversation at @LibDems conference with @IanSollom@OllyGloverLD@Wera_Hobhouse@mpntod@Mohammed_Amin on "What's Happening to Men and Boys?"- it was full.
Key themes: Male role models, men's health and suicide, and, tackling the causes behind why men go to prison.
NEW: Lib Dem candidate for Mayor of Hampshire and the Solent says the new position must have the ability to regulate ferries as well as buses. Martin Tod @mpntod is currently the leader of Winchester City Council.

@AllyFogg There's some research somewhere that says that cars in cities travel at the speeds of public transport. If there's more congestion and cars are slower, people move to public transport and congestion reduces. If they're faster, people move out of public transport into cars.
Since it's #BurnsNight tonight and #JaneAusten250 this year, I took the opportunity to post a speech I was asked to make to the 'immortal memory' that references both of them (as well as John Keats and Edward Young)! https://t.co/tlH5zJwo9m
Disappointing response from the minister to my question about how funding for reorganising councils & forming mayoral regions will be handled
I will keep making the case that a govt dictated scheme should be fully funded by them or communities could see services cut to pay for it
Hampshire County Council is on Thursday this week debating asking for elections to be cancelled this year for administrative convenience. County elections have only been cancelled since 1900 for two world wars. What's your view? #Hampshire#Elections#DemocracyUnderThreat
Guess what - the EU ๐ช๐บ also produces 41% more steel, 59% more vehicles, 39% more planes and 53 times as many ships as the US ๐บ๐ธ
Of course, nobody will write about that.
When itโs China ๐จ๐ณ, itโs sobering. When itโs Europe, itโs ignored.
Today Council Leader, @mpntod (Cllr Martin Tod) and Chief Executive Laura Taylor attended a topping out ceremony for the expansion of the Orthopaedic Outpatients department (OOPD) at Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester. @HHFTnhs
@nicktweet @WinchesterCity@HantsPolRoads@GreenHampshire@hantsconnect First thing this a.m. I asked the Director and Assistant Director for Highways for an urgent response. I've also asked that they look at what happened in process terms so we don't get a repeat. They're "looking at the issue as a matter of urgency."
We had a brilliant afternoon watching @wincityfc Winchester City Football Club play on their brand new AstroTurf pitch!
Thanks for your hospitality - and the excellent chilli! @mpntod
@nicktweet @WinchesterCity@HantsPolRoads@GreenHampshire@hantsconnect It's been reported multiple times - including by the police - but no action appeared to have been taken when I last checked yesterday. Will see if I can find a way to speed it up.
After a number of years of discussions with @HistoricEngland, we've received formal Scheduled Monument Consent for cleaning and repairs at the much-loved Buttercross in the High Street in the city centre ๐ https://t.co/4XzfzjjExu
