Bankers keep India connected 24×7.
But behind every transaction, target and deadline is a human being, with a family, responsibilities and a life beyond the branch.
A 5-day week was agreed in March 2024, with bankers accepting longer working hours from Monday to Friday.
The demand is reasonable. The commitment is proven. The delay is difficult to justify.
Implement 5-Day Banking now.

An agreement must be honoured. A reward system must be fair.
#5DayWeekandFairPLI
The 5 Day Work Week for bank employees was agreed in the Bipartite Settlement of March 2024. Its implementation cannot remain pending indefinitely.
At the same time, a unilateral and discriminatory PLI framework that divides the workforce must give way to a fair, transparent and inclusive system for all employees.
Every achievement of our banks is the outcome of collective effort.
Recognition too must reflect that collective contribution.
We seek no privilege, only implementation of an agreed commitment, equality in reward and dignity at work.
@PMOIndia
India’s Bank employees seek two things rooted in fairness and dignity at work.
#5DayWeekandFairPLI
The demand for a 5 Day Work Week in banks is not new. It already stands agreed upon in the Bipartite Settlement of March 2024. What remains is its long-pending implementation.
At the same time, the unilateral and discriminatory PLI system must be abolished and replaced with a fair, transparent and inclusive framework for all employees, recognising the collective effort behind every institution’s performance.
Hardworking bank employees are not asking for privilege. They are asking for implementation of an agreement and equality in reward.
A motivated banking workforce strengthens Indian banking and the nation.

The principle of equity across cadres must prevail; it establishes respect and renews trust in collective outcomes. #5DayWeekandFairPLI#AIBOC@PMOIndia https://t.co/fQYofjRaZ3

Implement 5 day week in Banking Industry for a more productive, efficienct, customer friendly and employee friendly workplace.
Everyone's hard work should be recognized fairly; revise the PLI scheme for mutual benefit across all levels. #5DayWeekandFairPLI#AIBOC@PMOIndia
Government of India offices already follow a 5-day workweek.
So do regulators like RBI, SEBI, IRDAI.
❓Why should PSU bank officers—handling public money & national schemes—work under an outdated model?
Parity in work culture strengthens institutions.

When the entire world is moving towards 4 days a week, only we are deprived of the much needed 5 days banking… RBI, state government, insurance sector is having 5 days a week.. It’s high time that bankers should also be given 5 days a week.
#Implement5DayBanking
A better banking experience starts with a sustainable workweek. With acute staff shortages and mounting stress, 5-day banking is about public service and employee well-being, not a privilege.
UFBU has been pressing since 2015; IBA has already recommended it to the Government (MoU 07-12-2023), and the 12th Bipartite/9th Joint Note (08-03-2024) records the Saturday holiday clause, pending approvals/clearances.
Honour what’s on record. Approve all Saturdays off.

Embracing a 5-day banking week reflects our evolving economy and supports the right work-life balance for all workers. #Implement5DayBanking https://t.co/y0kCUK1XzW
A rested workforce serves the public better. With staff shortages and rising stress, 5-day banking is a service-quality issue, not a “perk.” UFBU has pursued this since 2015; IBA has recommended it to the Government (MoU 07-12-2023), and it’s included in the 12th Bipartite/9th Joint Note (08-03-2024), pending clearances.
Let’s finish what’s already agreed.

When the world is moving to a 4-day week, and banking is already 24x7 in the digital era, bankers asking for a 5-day week isn’t a luxury. It’s justice.
IBA has agreed. The understanding is signed.
Now the Government must honour its commitment – no more excuses, no more delays.
Respect the Settlement. Deliver it.
