Eva Marie Saint, who voiced an elderly Katara, passed away at 102 on October 6. The Oscar-winning Hollywood legend had already left an extraordinary mark through On the Waterfront, North by Northwest, Superman Returns, and decades of film and television work. Reuters

Just nine days later, Richard Riehle, the voice of Bumi, passed away at 78. A prolific character actor with more than 400 credits, Riehle was also remembered as Tom Smykowski in Office Space, along with roles in Glory, The Fugitive, Bridesmaids, and numerous television series. AP News

Their careers could not have been more different, yet Avatar: The Legend of Korra gave them one special connection: they became the voices of two beloved characters from the original Avatar: The Last Airbender generation.

Katara and Bumi represented two very different pieces of that world, and their voices helped carry the story forward into a new era.

Two legendary performers. Two unforgettable voices. One shared place in the Avatar universe.
