Oga Obinna has proposed a law that would compensate men who discover through DNA tests that they have unknowingly been raising children who are not biologically theirs.

He argues that if a DNA test establishes that a child is not the man’s, the mother should be taken to court and required to compensate him for the money he spent raising the child.

He has also proposed making DNA testing mandatory at birth, so that men can be certain from the beginning that the children they are raising are biologically theirs. He says this could also help prevent cases of babies being switched at birth.

If women can legally compel men to provide financial support for children, the law should also provide a mechanism for men to recover money spent under false paternity claims.
