@MythoYookay what a fucking drain on us all and our taxes. parked up in the same spot on google street view outside tooting library since 2015. aaarrgghhhh.
@charliecolecc deliciously ironic - 'Yes, the main Camden Council offices are air-conditioned. The award-winning headquarters was built in 2014 and relies on a sophisticated Hitachi modular chiller system to maintain comfortable cooling levels throughout
International advisory firm Blevins Franks is receiving a “rapidly growing number of inquiries” from people looking to move to Europe, with the “vast majority now citing tax & that slight feeling that in the UK they are not feeling welcome as a wealth creator or someone who has created wealth in their life,” said CEO James Roberts
“What governments in Europe are understanding is there is a competition, there is an international mobility now to wealthy individuals. And it is not just for multi-multi-millionaires, it is for people who have built a retirement pot of one to ten million pounds.”
Rather than wealth creation being seen as an “unalloyed pure good”, Roberts said wealth was “somehow something that is looked at from every angle to see how it can plug the gaps in deficits & spending that are in the UK budget”.
feng shui is real. declutter your room. clear your camera roll. unfollow people. clean your desk.
wash the dishes. get rid of what’s expired. watch how much mental energy comes back
Increased Capital gains tax will just create a massive freeze of not selling assets for 3 years until a sensible Government is installed , and will actually result in a massive drop in receipts.
Clear as a bell. To top it all mention of an exit Tax………
Work? Taxed to oblivion
Sell? Taxed to oblivion
Buy? Taxed to oblivion
Die? Taxed to oblivion
And now… save? Taxed to oblivion
There is no point doing the right thing any more in the UK.
He hasn’t got a clue - he’s a socialist, they don’t do economics.
If no one stands against him he’ll be PM in less than a month.
If someone does step up (even a complete no-hoper), it buys him time to get his ducks in a row.
We could be in deep trouble here - and quickly
when someone on £120k leaves the uk, it takes around six average earners to replace what they paid in income tax and employee ni.
that is before you count the lost skill, work ethic, innovation and future businesses they might have built.
if entrepreneurs leave, their upside leaves too. stop taxing productive people like an infinite resource.
won't be taking any prime minister seriously until they lay out a plan to make england better for people born post-1990. it's tiresome being expected to foot the bill for literally everyone else and getting increasingly little back for it
Vile state of democracy in the UK right now. Our public servants are acting privately. A breach to rule of law and extorting the hand that feeds them. Shameless and quite frankly, criminal.
How did Great Britain get here?
The land of William Pitt, Churchill, Darwin, Newton, Nelson.
Then fast forward to a bunch of washed up socialists who couldn’t run a lemonade stand.
The great lie is that society is divided between rich and poor.
The great truth, as David Friedberg puts it, is makers vs takers.
Makers build, create, and deliver real value: houses, software, art, businesses, and everything that moves civilization forward.
Takers watch, criticize, analyze, and politic. They push the lie that the rich hoard unfairly so the poor must seize it… all while positioning themselves to rule the chaos.
As @friedberg tells his kids: “At the end of the day, if you made something and someone else valued it, you were a maker. That was an amazing achievement. That is a great day.”
Takers thrive on division. Makers drive progress.
Time to choose your side.
Burnham likes to paint himself as an outsider, but he's never had a real job and has spent his entire working life in politics. He's the epitome of the Westminster bollard class. He has no useful experience to draw upon and his premiership will be a bigger binfire than Starmer's.
The UK is navigating its most severe period of socio-economic and constitutional stress in modern times. Widespread frustration over institutional and infrastructure decline, housing crises, incohesive societies, political stagnation, fiscal drag, unaffordability. We're fucked.
