Thanks Shadi! It was a great pleasure to present the main results of OCEANIC. We now have an intervention that uncouples thrombosis and hemostasis. Stroke reduction without an increase in bleeding!
Excellent presentation by @PereraKanjana 👏🏻👏🏻
Aproach to ESUS workup
✅️ CTA is superior to MRA (prone to artifatcs)
✅️ TEE/TCD with microbubbles in the young
✅️ Prolonged cardiac monitoring - older patients

Dr. Mike Sharma and I discuss the results of the phase III OCEANIC-STROKE Trial: In secondary stroke prevention the Factor Xi inhibitor Asundexian reduced the risk of recurrent ischemic stroke at 1 year by 26%. The absolute reduction was such that only 53 people would we need to be treated to prevent another stroke at 1 year.
There was no increase in mild or severe bleeding or intracranial bleeding
63% of people were on DAPT at study start, and they had the same benefit as people on antiplatelet monotherapy
Similar benefit in medium to large vessel ischemic stroke, lacunar stroke and stroke of unidentified origin
All benefit with no increase in bleeding risk

A breakthrough in secondary prevention. Asundexian reduced ischemic stroke risk without increased bleeding. Congratulations to Mike Sharma and @Ash_Shoamanesh and the OCEANIC-STROKE team. Well done 👏 #ISC26
We are absolutely thrilled to share that the OCEANIC-STROKE trial has successfully met its primary efficacy & safety endpoints.
These landmark findings have the potential to prevent >1M strokes annually worldwide...

Day 1 #ESOC2025@CSC_Stroke@ESOstroke
Happening day, bridging with TNK and EVT is better, low intensity monitoring after IVT is safe, tirofiban post IVT may be helpful, and prolonged anticoagulation is not helpful in CVST.
Congratulations to the recipients of the 2024/25 Department of Medicine Academic and Teaching Awards! These awards recognize outstanding research and education contributions.
🏆 The awards will be presented at our annual awards dinner on September 17, 2025.
Day 3 #ISC2025 Congratulations to all the Investigators and their teams for all the hard work #stroke@American_Stroke :
a)PRESTIGE-AF (NNT13 and NNH 24),
b) Microcirculation: IA TNK or tPA beneficial without increased sICH,
c) IVT>4.5h tPA in CTP selected AIS beneficial
Day 1 #ISC25 International Stroke Conference. It is a very exciting day, and three major MeVo DMVO trial results are presented. At this time, no benefit has been observed with EVT in MeVo or DMVO #Stroke#Neurology#neurotwitter#Stroketwitter@CSC_Stroke
Should patients with #stroke and device-detected subclinical #AFib (SCAF) receive OAC?
Our subgroup analyses of the @Artesia_RCT published in @TheLancetNeuro provide novel insights indicating that they indeed should in the right setting.
