African Infrastructure Strategist | Building scalable platforms in agri, fintech & infrastructure | Thinking in systems, acting in impact. building | FARMSTACK
I am Glory Benjamin and I’m building FARMSTACK And I’m also building other systems that’ll further make The Journey of building In Africa/Nigeria much more easier starting with getting real News in real time.
From now on that should be the new thing I’ll be known for.
@ToheebAyomide2 It’s not as easy to even get this kind of news, I feel you should settle him with that 3 months salary and give him an opening for anyone he suggest to working with your farm, that way he has a choice to make
I'm Building the infrastructure that connects the fragmented elements of Agriculture in Africa...
From Production Deficit to Produce flow
From Long distance Processing Plant to Localized Modular processing plants
From Distribution deficiency to structured food distribution
From manual/inaccuration data to Full didgital agricultural presence
From wasted arable lands to Tech enabled full stack Agro estate
Thats the infrastructure I Glory Benjamin Uche is Building at FARMSTACK AGRISOLUTIONS LIMITED
The fastest way to fail in farming is trying to know everything by yourself.
Recently, me and 4 other ginger farmers tested different selective herbicides from different companies simultaneously.
Everybody sacrificed a tiny portion of land for testing.
Within one week…
We already knew:
which one worked
which one stressed the crop
which one was a waste of money
and which company was just selling packaging.
That’s the power of community in farming.
Alone, it could have taken months of trial and error and a lot more money to figure out.
That small collaboration saved all of us from making expensive mistakes on large scale applications.
Some farmers see other farmers as competition.
I see them as data sources.
I know a lot of farmers like to move in silence.
But agriculture is one industry where the right network can literally save your season.
Find people growing what you grow.
Share information.
Share updates.
Share failures too.
Your farming circle matters more than people think.
One good farming circle can increase your profits more than another acre of land.
Tag a farmer that gives you useful information.
We all should not still forget that many people talking about this man didn’t get the full context of what he was talking about!
You only heard the part that hurt your feelings that’s why the hate is growing, try to watch the complete video and then position yourself.
BOA PROPOSES MASSIVE LAND MECHANISATION DEAL WITH LAWMAKERS
THE UPDATE: The Bank of Agriculture is asking every member of Nigeria’s House of Representatives to join a nationwide tractor deployment plan. The goal: mechanize arable land across all 360 federal constituencies.
WHY IT MATTERS: If approved, this partnership could slash import reliance and curb food inflation by boosting local farm output—a potential win for farmers and consumers alike, but a loss for food importers.
THE BOTTOM LINE: This tractor initiative could finally turn Nigeria’s idle farmland into a productivity powerhouse—if the politicians sign on.

How much will you REALLY make from 1 Acre of Lettuce (Hydroponic setup) in Nigeria?
This time we will be making some adjustments
👉 Controlled environment (greenhouse/shade net)
👉 NFT (Nutrient Film Technique) system
👉 60-day cycle
👉 Year-round production
And oh boy do I have a surprise for you on this one
So stay with me
You know the first rule
Land cost is not included
Second rule
If you want consistency, you need structure
Labour
👉 1 manager + 2 workers + 1 assistant = ₦350,000/month
👉 2 months = ₦700,000

👉 Spacing: 20cm x 20cm
👉 ~100,000 plants per acre

Investment: ₦1,465,000
Revenue: ₦31,500,000
👉 Profit: ₦30,035,000
👉 ROI: ~2,050% in 2 months
Reality Check
This is capital-intensive.
👉 Greenhouse + NFT system: ₦8M–₦12M upfront
👉 Real total setup: ₦10M–₦15M
Worst Case
👉 Power failure → 50% loss
👉 Yield: 45,000 heads
👉 Revenue: ₦15,750,000
👉 Cost (with capex): ₦12,000,000
👉 Profit: ₦3,750,000

👉 Yield: 27,000 heads
👉 Revenue: ₦9,450,000
👉 Cost: ₦12,000,000

Biggest lie
“You can start with ₦500k and scale fast”
Reality
👉 Infrastructure is the real barrier
👉 Power failure = crop loss in 48–72 hours
👉 Skilled labour is critical
MY VERDICT
High capital, high return.
A cash-flow machine only if infrastructure is already in place.
So if you have ₦12 million today
Are you putting it into hydroponic lettuce farming?
How much will you REALLY make from 1 Ton of Black Soldier Fly Larvae in Nigeria? 🪰
This time we will be making some adjustments
👉 Target: 1 ton fresh larvae per cycle
👉 System: Intensive enclosed shed (no rain dependency)
👉 Cycle: 28 days
👉 Feed: Organic waste + starter feed
And oh boy do I have a surprise for you on this one
Most people think BSF is cheap magic
But the waste-to-value math is brutal if you do it properly
You know the first rule
Land cost is not included
Second rule
If you want consistency, you need structure
Labour
👉 3 staff + 1 supervisor = 200,000/month

FINAL NUMBERS
Investment: 345,000
Revenue: 315,000
👉 Profit: -30,000
👉 ROI: -8.7% in 28 days
Reality Check
BSF is a volume business. Small scale loses money.
👉 Waste quality affects output and price
👉 Fresh larvae must be sold within 48 hours or processed
Worst Case
👉 Waste cost rises to 30/kg
👉 Yield drops to 700 kg
👉 Revenue: 245,000
👉 Loss: -85,000
Biggest lie
“It turns trash into free money”
Reality
👉 Logistics and labour eat margins
👉 You need drying or scale to win
MY VERDICT
At 1 ton, you lose money.
Real profit starts at scale (5+ tons per cycle).
So if you have 345,000 Naira today
Are you putting it into BSF farming?
Someone asked me why I’m so confident my farm will succeed.
He looked at the crop list like it was madness:
Cocoa. Plantain. Pepper. Watermelon. Sugarcane. Maize. Ginger.
“How do you expect ALL these to be profitable?”
I smiled.
One word: GINGER.
He got confused.
So I broke it down for him
Everything you just mentioned?
They’re not the business.
They’re the engine.
They pay salaries.
They keep cash flowing.
They make sure the farm never stops breathing.
But my real bet?
My real obsession?
Ginger.
Then he asked the real question:
“What if ginger fails?”
I smiled again.
Because this is where most people misunderstand farming…
They treat it like luck and luck is gamble.
And I don’t gamble.
So I treat it like controlled probability.
I didn’t plant one ginger farm.
I planted six.
Not side by side.
Not the same way.
Not even with the same logic.
Different locations.
Different staff.
Different methods.
One farm — bare land method (Southern Kaduna style)
One farm — planted with ridges (Thailand style)
One farm — used trenches (China style)
One farm — no mulch at all
One farm — bamboo leaf mulching
One farm — traditional system
Same crop.
Six different experiments.
Now do the math.
If 3 succeed out of 6… I win BIG.
If 4 succeed… I dominate.
If all 6 succeed… I disappear for a while 😂
For me to lose?
Four out of my farms would have to fail at the same time, under different conditions, managed by different people…
That’s not farming anymore.
That’s sabotage.
He went quiet… then said:
“So basically… your plan can’t fail unless God Himself is against you.”
Exactly.
That’s why when I tell my staff:
“Don’t joke with my ginger…”
They understand.
You can mismanage maize.
You can experiment with pepper.
But ginger?
That’s the crown jewel.
You even bring goat near am… you fit lose your job that same day 😂
Anyway sha…
Ginger no hard like that.
But Don’t plant it sha.
Leave it for only me.
