@shalomiex@unisontheunion Should doctors and nurses only see patients if they are key workers too? Should factories and shops close? No - it's a matter of risk vs benefits. And the benefits of keeping nurseries open are now much higher than the huge problems that it bring to working parents.
@SDvstheworld @unisontheunion Most people are at home now so transmission rates will lower. Siblings are at home too. As such risks are small, compared with the major impact brought upon those trying to work full-time and look after a toddler. But hey, if I worked at a nursery I might want it to close too.
@shalomiex@unisontheunion Primary schools are now closed so siblings are at home. It's great for you if they close as you get to be at home. Not at all my case or millions of other working parents with babies and todlers.
@unisontheunion Yes there are risks but classes are small in nurseries and with everyone else mostly at home transmission rates will be lower and staff should be safe.
@unisontheunion Try working a full-time job and looking after a 3 year old - it can't be done, not even for 5min. My toddler doesn't play alone or watch telly like a 9 year old would. She needs 100% of my attention at all times - when am I supposed to work? From 10pm to 6am? No sleep?
@GuardianEdu@unisontheunion Try working a full-time job and looking after a 3 year old. It's not possible - not for 5min let alone 8h!! What are parents supposed to do? @unisontheunion
@uksciencechief The problem with closing nurseries is how can one work a full-time, demanding job and look after a 2 year old at the same time? Hugely stressful and exausting.
@lenadunham Don't play yourself down! Lots of people have money and didn't do what you did and most people if had been given money still wouldn't have done what you did: amazing amazing work. In so many ways! I guess this is a way for you to keep your feet on the ground..but still! x
Whilst the UK prepares to leave the EU perhaps it's never been a better time for #Labour to connect with and learn from other EU left wing parties and rebuild itself back up.
as well as the EU. That's not being unclear, that's being open and honest about a difficult situation TM put us in when she triggered article 50 without a plan.
@jeremycorbyn The press accuses you of being unclear etc. You should say that no one can claim they have a workable solution THAT will be acceptable by a House majority. So one needs to remain open and flexible at this stage and work with MPs and the public
@jeremycorbyn I am a remainer but I also think the country has hit a point of no return and must leave the EU in some shape or form. What I worry now is the prospect of a no deal and the extreme, almost authoritarian nature of the current Tory gov.
@jeremycorbyn election strategy: tell the uk you will agree with the EU a range of high level options which you will then put to MPs+ tweak until a majority approval. That you will be open and transparent unlike Theresa May and that you will never take the UK without a deal.
Crazy that @BorisJohnson is making mars bars jokes about a no deal brexit whilst the other 72% of us, who don't have family money to fall back on, are actually worring sick about a recession and job losses.
